Reports To: Senior Director, Marketing Division: Electric Utility Direct Reports: none Location: Cleveland, OH FLSA Status: Exempt Employment Type: Full time Salary Range: $100k-$120k Position Overview: The Marketing Manager, Electric Utility Division recommends and leads Marketing strategies, plans, and initiatives for one of NSA’s three divisions: Electric Utility Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing, this position serves as the primary Marketing contact for the assigned division and works closely with the Division Leader, Sales, Product Management, and other divisional stakeholders. The Manager develops recommendations regarding the division’s Marketing strategy, brand positioning, annual plan, priorities, programs, and resource needs. Recommendations are reviewed and approved by the Senior Director of Marketing in alignment with the Division Leader and EVP of Commercial Operations. Following approval, the Manager leads divisional planning and coordinates execution by leveraging the centralized Functional Marketing teams that report to the Senior Director of Marketing:

Product & Content Management Sales & Channel Enablement Demand Generation Ecommerce & Digital Experience

The Manager does not directly manage these Functional Marketing teams. The role defines divisional needs, prepares clear briefs, coordinates stakeholders, monitors progress, and recommends adjustments to the Senior Director of Marketing. This position requires strong Marketing judgment, knowledge of the assigned division, cross-functional coordination, and the ability to turn business priorities into practical Marketing recommendations and initiatives.   Essential Job Functions: Divisional Marketing Recommendations

Develop recommendations for the division’s Marketing strategy based on approved business priorities, customer needs, market conditions, product plans, and commercial objectives. Provide Marketing perspective during divisional planning, business reviews, product discussions, and commercial initiatives. Develop a working understanding of the division’s markets, customers, end users, applications, products, channels, competitors, regulations, and buying processes. Identify Marketing opportunities, customer needs, competitive issues, and potential program requirements. Translate approved divisional priorities into Marketing initiatives, briefs, schedules, and resource requests. Recommend adjustments when business priorities, market conditions, customer needs, or available resources change.

Brand Strategy, Positioning, and Activation

Develop brand-strategy and positioning recommendations in partnership with the Division Leader and Senior Director of Marketing. Provide customer, market, product, channel, and competitive information to support brand decisions. Translate approved brand direction into requirements for campaigns, content, sales tools, digital experiences, events, and channel programs. Work with Product & Content Management to develop messaging and materials consistent with approved brand standards. Monitor customer feedback, competitive positioning, and market response and recommend updates when appropriate. Support acquisition integration, brand transitions, and other portfolio initiatives affecting the division.

Annual Marketing Planning

Prepare the recommended annual Marketing plan for the assigned division. Consult with the Division Leader, Sales, Product Management, Functional Marketing Leaders, and other stakeholders regarding priorities and requirements. Maintain the approved divisional Marketing calendar and coordinate required inputs and decisions. Monitor progress against the plan and recommend changes when needed.

Functional Marketing Coordination

Leverage the centralized Functional Marketing teams to support approved divisional priorities. Develop clear briefs that define the business need, target audience, objectives, requested deliverables, timing, stakeholders, and measures of success. Provide the divisional context, subject-matter access, feedback, and approvals needed by the Functional Marketing teams. Maintain visibility into project timing, dependencies, open decisions, and risks. Support reuse of enterprise capabilities, standards, platforms, and processes while clearly communicating legitimate divisional requirements.

Product & Content Management Partnership

Recommend divisional priorities for product positioning, value propositions, messaging, product information, technical content, sales materials, catalogs, photography, video, and digital assets. Support product launches, product-line initiatives, commercialization programs, and lifecycle-management activities. Identify content gaps based on customer questions, sales feedback, channel needs, digital performance, or product priorities. Review divisional content for business relevance, accuracy, and alignment with approved positioning.

Sales & Channel Enablement Partnership

Work with Sales leadership and the Sales & Channel Enablement team to identify divisional enablement needs. Recommend tools, content, programs, training, presentations, playbooks, and channel resources that support approved sales priorities. Develop requirements for distributor programs, co-op Marketing, promotions, customer communications, merchandising, and training. Help coordinate divisional stakeholders required for program development, review, and adoption. Gather feedback from sales teams and channel partners and recommend improvements.

Demand Generation Partnership

Work with the Demand Generation team to recommend audiences, campaigns, messages, offers, channels, and timing based on divisional priorities. Provide relevant customer, product, market, account, and competitive information for campaign development. Coordinate with Sales and Sales Operations regarding lead follow-up, account engagement, and reporting expectations. Review campaign performance with the Demand Generation team and recommend adjustments. Ensure divisional stakeholders understand campaign timing, responsibilities, and follow-up requirements.

  Ecommerce & Digital Experience Partnership

Recommend divisional priorities for websites, ecommerce, product discovery, distributor tools, portals, digital content, and customer self-service. Provide business requirements and divisional context to the Ecommerce & Digital Experience team. Identify opportunities to improve navigation, search, product findability, content access, lead generation, and digital customer journeys. Provide input into the enterprise digital roadmap through the Senior Director of Marketing and Functional Marketing Leader.

Market and Customer Insights

Gather information from customers, distributors, end users, Sales, Product Management, industry sources, digital behavior, campaign results, and competitive activity. Identify customer needs, market trends, competitive developments, regulatory considerations, and changes in buying behavior. Help define priority audiences, segments, applications, and use cases.

Product Launches and Commercialization

Recommend the Marketing approach for divisional product launches and major commercialization initiatives. Coordinate with Product Management, Sales, Operations, Customer Experience, and Functional Marketing teams to prepare launch plans. Define proposed audiences, positioning, messaging, content, sales tools, campaigns, training, digital requirements, timing, and measures. Submit significant launch plans to the Senior Director of Marketing for review and approval. Coordinate the execution of approved Marketing activities and maintain visibility into readiness, dependencies, and open decisions. Monitor launch activity and recommend corrective actions when needed. Support post-launch reviews and document lessons for future initiatives.

Events and Market Activation

Prepare event objectives, target audiences, proposed investment, activation requirements, staffing needs, and follow-up expectations. Submit significant event recommendations through the annual planning or approval process. Coordinate approved event activity with Sales, Functional Marketing teams, agencies, and divisional stakeholders. Support pre-event promotion, on-site execution, lead handling, content use, and post-event follow-up and review.

Budget and Resource Recommendations

Prepare divisional Marketing budget recommendations in partnership with the Senior Director of Marketing, Division Leader, Functional Marketing Leaders, and Finance. Develop the business rationale, expected benefits, timing, and resource requirements for proposed initiatives. Identify potential budget pressures, savings opportunities, and changes in resource needs. Support the use and tracking of distributor co-op funds, vendor support, and other available funding.

Performance and Reporting

Recommend appropriate objectives and measures for divisional Marketing initiatives. Work with Functional Marketing teams, Sales Operations, and Finance to prepare divisional performance reports and dashboards Present periodic updates to the Senior Director of Marketing and divisional stakeholders. Maintain appropriate records of approved plans, projects, budgets, and performance information.

Marketing Technology and Artificial Intelligence

Use approved Marketing technology, automation, analytics, and artificial-intelligence applications in accordance with NSA policies. Identify practical applications that may improve research, analysis, planning, content workflows, productivity, or customer experience. Maintain appropriate human review of AI-supported work. Protect confidential, proprietary, customer, employee, and partner information. Do not use unapproved platforms for restricted or sensitive information. Share useful applications, process improvements, and identified risks with the Senior Director and Functional Marketing teams.

Additional Responsibilities

Perform other Marketing, commercial, communication, or project responsibilities as assigned. Support enterprise Marketing initiatives and cross-divisional programs when requested. Participate in annual planning, acquisition integration, and organizational-change initiatives as appropriate. Represent NSA professionally at selected customer meetings, distributor events, industry conferences, and trade shows. Maintain awareness of relevant industry, regulatory, customer, competitor, channel, technology, and Marketing developments.

Training: On the job Education and Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Advertising, Digital Marketing, or a related field required. Relevant professional certifications are beneficial.

Experience

5 or more years of progressive Marketing, product Marketing, channel Marketing, commercial strategy, or related experience. Experience leading significant projects, programs, or cross-functional initiatives. Experience in a business-to-business, manufacturing, distribution, industrial, safety products, utility, military and government, or similarly complex environment strongly preferred. Experience developing Marketing recommendations and translating approved strategies into plans and programs. Experience working with Sales, Product Management, business-unit leaders, and centralized Marketing teams. Experience supporting product launches, channel programs, customer initiatives, campaigns, events, content, or digital programs. Experience preparing budgets, business cases, or performance reporting. Experience working within a matrixed, shared-services, multi-division, or multi-brand organization preferred. Experience with Marketing technology, analytics, automation, or modern artificial-intelligence applications.
