The posting

Aerospace is at a turning point — costs are rising, supply chains are strained, and old ways of building can’t keep up. At Neon Aero, we’re breaking that mold. We move fast, think big, and combine start-up agility with aerospace expertise to design, build, and scale aircraft in ways the industry has never seen. Our team leverages automation, AI-driven tools, and a fully connected digital backbone to accelerate innovation and reduce barriers to production.

Here, you won’t just take a job — you’ll help reinvent how the world flies. If you’re ready to solve complex problems, push technology further, and work alongside some of the brightest minds in aerospace, this is your chance to make a real impact.

Neon Aero is on the search for a Composite Layup Technician to work onsite in Manchester, CT. As a Composite Layup Technician, you will perform complex composite layups to approved engineering and manufacturing requirements, maintain rigorous material and quality controls, and work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production to deliver reliable aerospace hardware.

Why This Role Matters

  • Produce precise carbon fiber, fiberglass, and other composite layups using dry and wet processes, including complex geometries and mixed-material assemblies.
  • Prepare tooling, place and inspect plies, conduct debulking and vacuum leak checks, and help ensure components meet defined requirements.
  • Protect flight-critical quality through material traceability, accurate process records, defect identification, and controlled rework.
  • Contribute to first-article builds, process development, root-cause investigations, training, and manufacturing improvements.
  • Support safe, organized, detail-intensive on-site manufacturing while coordinating production quality and takt time.
  • Production shift, overtime expectations, and worksite location: [Manager to confirm].

What You’ll Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least five years of hands-on composite layup experience in aircraft or aerospace manufacturing, or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
  • Ability to execute complex layups with minimal supervision, including integration of core or foam, fabric, and metallic materials.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, ply tables, ply orientation and sequence requirements, work orders, and process instructions.
  • Hands-on knowledge of dry and wet layup, mold and tooling preparation, debulking, vacuum integrity and leak checks, cure preparation, vacuum and temperature monitoring, cleanroom controls, chemical safety, and FOD prevention.
  • Experience with manufacturing documentation, lot traceability, material shelf-life and out-time controls, layup defect recognition, and escalation.
  • Experience with first-article builds, complex assemblies, AS9100 quality practices, process improvement, engineering investigations, mentoring, training, auditing, technician certification when authorized, and small-team coordination.
  • Strong manual dexterity, precise workmanship, communication, independent judgment, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to perform hands-on production tasks involving standing, reaching, and repetitive hand movements; lifting limits and additional physical requirements: [Manager to confirm].
  • Ability to comply with facility and information-security controls; work authorization, export-control, and clearance requirements: [Manager to confirm].

Why Join Us

  • Work alongside elite engineering talent and innovators from across aerospace and tech.
  • Be part of a team moving faster than the industry standard.
  • Shape solutions that are lower-cost, autonomous, and scalable, the future of aviation.
  • Competitive compensation, including equity participation, growth opportunities, and full health benefits (health, vision, dental, 401(k)) designed to support you in and out of work.

This is the expected compensation range for this role. Final compensation will be based on role scope, experience, skills, internal equity and location. This role may also be eligible for bonus/equity/benefits, if applicable.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
