Team Description:

The Veterinary Medicine Team bridges animal research and human medicine. We are a team of dedicated veterinary professionals who provide exceptional veterinary care and oversight for the animals in our research program. Guided by first-principles thinking, we identify opportunities for improvement, learn from challenges, and take action to strengthen our practices. We foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning, supporting each team member's growth while prioritizing compassion resilience to sustain this important work.

  • Keep accurate, timely medical records and documentation that meet IACUC, USDA, AAALAC and GLP requirements, as applicable
  • Operate and maintain laboratory, medical and custom equipment, and troubleshoot and escalate operating problems on your own
  • Own assigned projects from start to finish, and take responsibility for keeping your area organized, stocked, and inspection-ready
  • Handle, store, and dispose of biohazardous materials, sharps, and controlled substances safely and in line with regulations
  • Collect, process, and prepare biological samples (blood, urine, bacterial cultures, etc.) for diagnostic testing
  • Find gaps in workflows, SOPs and processes, and propose or implement practical solutions
  • Use AI tools to streamline daily tasks such as documentation, scheduling, data entry, SOP lookup and reporting
  • Travel between Texas and California as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT, or equivalent) in good standing, or eligible
  • 2+ years of working with animals in clinical practice or research animals
  • Proven competence in anesthesia monitoring, venipuncture, catheter placement and treatment administration without direct supervision
  • Experience with animal husbandry and an understanding of animal welfare regulations
  • Clear, professional written and spoken communication of veterinary and scientific information to technical, research, and clinical staff
  • Solution-focused: approaches challenges with initiative and sound judgment, focusing on actionable solutions rather than just identifying problems
  • Self-starter who sets priorities and manages competing deadlines with minimal direction
  • Collaborative team player who stays effective as priorities change in a fast-paced setting
  • Comfortable with technology: picks up new electronic medical record systems quickly and is proficient in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail)
  • Willing and able to use AI tools in daily work, and adopts new technology quickly to work more efficiently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of hands-on academic or industry experience with research animals, preferably large animals and/or nonhuman primates

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
