Your Mission

We are looking for a Lead Frontend Engineer to take ownership of our frontend and help shape how it grows as the team expands. You will be our first dedicated frontend engineer, responsible for our Vue 3 design system and the product interfaces built on top of it.

This is a hands-on engineering role. You will spend a substantial part of your time building product features and design-system components yourself, while also setting frontend standards and guiding how the interface evolves.

You will work closely with our product owner, full-stack developers, and domain experts. We care about more than implementation quality. We want someone who thinks in systems, understands how users make decisions, and designs interfaces that help engineering and program teams work effectively with complex data.

Your Tasks

  • Understand software requirements and take full ownership through the SDLC — design, build, test, deploy, monitor and maintain
  • Build and ship user-facing features end-to-end, from component design through to production
  • Grow the Vue 3 component/design system into documented, tested, production-ready components
  • Collaborate directly with product and the backend engineer to turn requirements into working software
  • Contribute to frontend coding standards and review practices as the team grows
  • Work async-first with the Germany-based team, with overlap hours for key syncs

Working Model

  • Work from our office in Chennai and/or in Hybrid mode.
  • Close daily collaboration with our team in Germany, with at least 4 to 5 hours of overlap
  • You will work closely with product, engineering, and domain experts rather than in isolation
  • We build products for the long term and value getting things right over shipping fast

Your Profile

Key responsibilities

  • Understand software requirements and take full ownership through the SDLC — design, build, test, deploy, monitor and maintain
  • Build and ship user-facing features end-to-end, from component design through to production
  • Grow the Vue 3 component/design system into documented, tested, production-ready components
  • Collaborate directly with product and the backend engineer to turn requirements into working software
  • Contribute to frontend coding standards and review practices as the team grows
  • Work async-first with the Germany-based team, with overlap hours for key syncs

Must-have skills

  • 3–5 years building production frontend applications in Vue, React or Angular — this role works in Vue 3 (Composition API), so strong React experience with the ability to ramp quickly is genuinely welcome, not just a fallback.
  • Solid TypeScript fundamentals — not just framework familiarity
  • Experience integrating with REST or GraphQL APIs
  • Demonstrated ability to take a requirement from spec to shipped feature with minimal hand-holding
  • Comfort working in a small team with high autonomy, in hybrid model

Nice to have

  • Exposure to industrial, manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, ERP, or PLM domains — helpful context, not required
  • Experience in an early-stage, lean team or first-engineer-on-the-ground setup
  • Exposure to CI practices (automated builds/tests) is a plus; familiarity with CD or Infrastructure-as-Code is welcome but not expected.
  • Basic exposure to AI/ML, Enterprise AI, Agentic AI is a plus.

What success looks like in the first 90 days

  • Shipped at least one meaningful feature into production independently, start to finish
  • Actively contributing to the Vue 3 component system
  • Comfortable with the team's async collaboration rhythm with German Time zone (CET/ CEST)

Why this Role is special

You'll be one of the first set of Software engineers on the ground in Chennai GCC of newboxes, Germany; building product interfaces alongside a small, high-ownership team. The core ask is straightforward: the right frontend stack, and the ability to take a software requirement and own it end-to-end through the SDLC. Domain exposure (Industrial Systems & Decision Intelligence) is a bonus, not a prerequisite — we look for strong engineering fundamentals and grow the domain knowledge on the job.
