Senior Project Manager

Nexight Group is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a large, multidisciplinary team delivering research communications, publications, marketing, outreach, multimedia, and digital content services for a federal transportation client. This senior-level role requires an experienced leader who can manage a complex portfolio of concurrent projects, provide strategic and operational direction to staff, build trusted client relationships, and ensure high-quality work is delivered on schedule and within budget.

This position is contingent upon Nexight Group receiving an anticipated federal contract award. Employment under this position will begin only after contract award and authorization to proceed.

Nexight Group is a small technical and management consulting firm that serves a variety of clients in many topic areas. We value adaptability, critical thinking, curiosity, initiative, and taking pride in high-quality work. Our staff work collaboratively, communicate openly, and continuously look for ways to improve our work and deliver greater value to clients. To learn more about the company, please visit our careers page.

Applicants should have the necessary skills to perform the following job responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership and management for a multidisciplinary communications team and a high-volume portfolio of concurrent projects spanning publications, marketing and outreach, multimedia, web content, and related communications services.
  • Lead project planning, resource allocation, staff assignments, schedules, budgets, milestones, performance measures, and priorities to ensure high-quality deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
  • Serve as a primary client-facing leader, coordinating directly with government contracting and program personnel, task managers, researchers, and other stakeholders to understand needs, establish priorities, resolve issues, and maintain alignment with contract objectives.
  • Provide end-to-end oversight of project intake, planning, execution, review, approval, delivery, and closeout, maintaining visibility across active and upcoming work.
  • Lead, coach, and coordinate multidisciplinary staff, ensuring clear roles, accountability, effective collaboration, appropriate workload distribution, and continuity of service.
  • Maintain project- and portfolio-level tracking systems that provide staff and clients with clear visibility into assignments, schedules, milestones, dependencies, action items, risks, and project status.
  • Proactively identify and manage schedule, budget, quality, staffing, and performance risks, developing mitigation and contingency strategies before issues affect client outcomes.
  • Implement consistent quality management processes, including project-specific review approaches, quality checks, performance measures, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Analyze workload, priorities, and resource needs to anticipate capacity constraints and deploy appropriate staff or backup coverage as needs change.
  • Oversee records, project documentation, communications product archives, and knowledge management practices to support continuity of operations and comply with applicable contract and records management requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, workflows, team performance, and client service, translating lessons learned into practical improvements across the contract.

This is a hybrid position. Candidates should be within reasonable commuting distance of the Washington, DC, metropolitan area and available for meetings and other activities at client locations in McLean, VA, and Washington, DC, as required.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
