The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Telecom Expense Management Project Manager based in the United States.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Telecom Expense Management Project Manager with strong expertise in financial analysis, telecom expense auditing, and cost optimization. In this role, you will focus on improving telecom spending processes, analyzing large datasets, and identifying opportunities to reduce costs across mobile, landline, cloud, and data center services. You will collaborate with Finance, IT, and Vendor Management teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, effective budget management, and contract compliance. Your analytical insights will support forecasting, expense reconciliation, and strategic financial decision-making. This position emphasizes hands-on financial analysis and operational improvement rather than traditional project coordination alone. It offers an opportunity to make a measurable impact on cost control and financial efficiency in a collaborative hybrid or remote working environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and optimization of processes for managing telecom expenses across mobile, landline, cloud, and data center services.
  • Conduct detailed telecom invoice audits and financial data reviews to identify billing discrepancies, eliminate errors, and uncover cost-saving opportunities.
  • Analyze vendor expenses against contractual terms, negotiated rates, budget allocations, and actual service utilization to identify inefficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare monthly and annual expense variance analyses, budget forecasts, financial summaries, and performance reports to support informed decision-making.
  • Manage and analyze large telecom expense datasets to produce carrier reports, monitor spending patterns, and identify trends or anomalies.
  • Develop and maintain financial dashboards, reporting tools, and status updates to track expenses against budgets, project timelines, and allocated resources.
  • Support mid-year and year-end forecasting activities by tracking planned versus actual expenditures, identifying budget variances, and coordinating the rollover of unspent funds where applicable.
  • Collaborate with IT, Finance, Vendor Management, and Vendor Operations teams to align telecom spending with contractual commitments, operational needs, and budget requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve telecom-related financial discrepancies, validate data accuracy, and communicate findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders and leadership.
  • Support cost-containment initiatives by evaluating telecom service utilization, identifying redundant or unnecessary expenses, and recommending opportunities for savings.
  • Use financial and enterprise resource planning tools to track expenses, maintain reporting accuracy, and improve the transparency of telecom-related expenditures.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial workflows, strengthen internal controls, and improve the efficiency and reliability of expense management processes.
  • Present analytical findings, financial trends, and cost optimization recommendations through clear reports and stakeholder presentations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in Telecom Expense Management (TEM), telecom financial analysis, invoice auditing, expense reconciliation, and cost optimization.
  • Strong background in financial forecasting, budget monitoring, variance analysis, and large-scale financial data management.
  • Proven ability to analyze high volumes of telecom billing and expense data, identify discrepancies, and produce accurate, audit-quality financial reports.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, data reconciliation, and financial analysis. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Word is also required.
  • Experience using ServiceNow, PeopleSoft, and other financial or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems for expense tracking, financial reporting, and operational analysis.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, budget compliance, vendor expense management, and contract utilization.
  • Experience preparing expense reports, financial dashboards, forecasts, and management presentations that communicate key findings and actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across Finance, IT, procurement, and vendor management functions.
  • Proven ability to identify financial inefficiencies, recommend process improvements, and support cost-containment initiatives.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently with minimal supervision, and deliver accurate results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with telecom carrier services, cloud billing models, and IT service management practices is an advantage.
  • Experience developing dashboards and automated reports using Excel or business intelligence (BI) tools is preferred.
  • Background in project-based financial tracking or public-sector financial environments is a plus.
  • Competitive hourly compensation: $85–$95 USD per hour, depending on professional experience.
  • Flexible work arrangement: Hybrid or remote working options within the United States, subject to project and operational requirements.
  • Full-time opportunity: The chance to contribute to meaningful cost optimization, financial analysis, and telecom expense management initiatives.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Opportunities to work with Finance, IT, and Vendor Management teams on strategic expense management activities.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
