At NiCE, we don’t limit our challenges. We challenge our limits. Always. We’re ambitious. We’re game changers. And we play to win. We set the highest standards and execute beyond them. And if you’re like us, we can offer you the ultimate career opportunity that will light a fire within you.

So, what’s the role all about?

As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable automated testing solutions that ensure the delivery of high-quality software products. You will work closely with developers, QA engineers, product owners, and other stakeholders to build robust automation frameworks, define and execute test strategies, and embed quality best practices throughout the software development lifecycle. This role requires strong expertise in Java, API test automation, and backend quality engineering, with experience using Playwright and related automation technologies. You will play a key role in improving product quality, reliability, and release confidence.

How will you make an impact?

  • Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test suites for APIs, backend services, and distributed systems.
  • Build, enhance, and maintain automation frameworks using Java, Playwright, and related testing technologies.
  • Create automated test cases and test scenarios based on business requirements, technical specifications, and user stories.
  • Analyze requirements and system behavior to identify edge cases, failure scenarios, test coverage gaps, and quality risks.
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support reliable, scalable, and repeatable quality gates.
  • Investigate test failures, troubleshoot automation issues, and collaborate with development teams to resolve defects efficiently.
  • Review automation code, promote engineering best practices, and contribute to the continuous improvement of testing frameworks and processes.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to improve product quality, testability, maintainability, and release readiness.
  • Drive improvements in automation coverage, execution efficiency, test reliability, and overall quality metrics.
  • Mentor junior automation engineers and share technical knowledge, tools, and best practices across the team.

Have you got what it takes?

  • At least 4 years of hands-on experience in test automation, software quality engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills in Java with a solid understanding of object-oriented design principles.
  • Experience with JUnit, TestNG, Maven, Gradle, or other Java-based testing frameworks and build tools.
  • Experience with API testing tools and frameworks such as REST Assured, Postman, or similar technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with Playwright for API automation, synthetic monitoring, and end-to-end service validation.
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, HTTP protocols, authentication mechanisms, and service-oriented architectures.
  • Knowledge of database testing, SQL, and test data management practices.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining automated test cases based on requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, SDLC processes, Agile/Scrum practices, and release management.
  • Experience working with CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins, or similar tools.
  • Experience working with version control systems such as Git.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, including root cause analysis and defect investigation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering teams.

You will have an advantage if you also have:

  • Experience with Checkly for synthetic monitoring, automated API validation, and production health verification.
  • Experience improving test reliability, reducing flaky tests, and optimizing automation execution times.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments, containerized applications, and microservices-based architectures.
  • Experience working on enterprise-scale software products or complex distributed systems.

What’s in it for you?

Join an ever-growing, market-leading global company where talented professionals collaborate to build innovative software solutions that impact customers worldwide. You will have the opportunity to work with modern technologies, influence product quality at scale, and drive automation excellence across the organization.

As part of a high-performing engineering team, you will be empowered to take ownership of automation initiatives, continuously improve testing practices, and contribute to faster, more reliable software delivery. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
