The posting

Chief Marketing Officer

Nood

Reports to the Founder and CEO

About Nood

Nood has sold over one million devices, and we’re just getting started. Our mission is to bring the clinic home, making powerful beauty technology accessible to millions.

Now we’re taking that momentum into our most ambitious chapter yet: expanding beyond hair removal into a new generation of beauty devices and skincare that transform how people care for their skin. We’re setting out to build one of the defining beauty brands of the next decade, and we’re looking for a Chief Marketing Officer to help lead it.

The role

We are hiring a Chief Marketing Officer to own Nood's business P&L and lead our next stage of growth. Your mandate is to build a beauty device and skincare business with stronger customer lifetime value, lasting retention, and profitable scale.

Reporting directly to the Founder and CEO, you will be Nood's most senior executive after the founder, leading marketing and commercial performance across DTC ecommerce, Amazon, and retail. Amazon and retail will report into this role. You will partner closely with the CFO to plan and manage the business.

You will connect a deep understanding of our products and customers to the decisions that drive growth: how we position and launch products, structure offers, design the website experience, acquire customers, and bring them back. You will lead the team responsible for turning that strategy into measurable business results.

What you will own

Business performance and financial ownership

  • Own the business P&L, including revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, and profitability, with clear visibility into performance by channel and product category.
  • Build and manage operating plans and budgets. Forecast demand by product and channel using acquisition, repeat purchase, launches, and promotions; partner with operations to translate demand into inventory and sales plans.
  • Allocate resources across products, channels, and initiatives. Make informed tradeoffs between growth, margin, spending, and long-term customer value.
  • Partner with the CFO and operations on inventory and working capital planning. Review actual results against forecasts, identify variances early, and lead corrective decisions.

Product marketing and portfolio growth

  • Define the target customer and positioning for each product, translating validated benefits and supporting evidence into compelling reasons to buy. Use customer research and purchase behavior to understand why people buy and what prevents them from purchasing.
  • Determine how each product contributes to acquisition, first-purchase value, repeat purchase, and expansion into new categories.
  • Lead product launches and ongoing commercialization, including audiences, messaging, offers, channel priorities, and marketing plans.
  • Identify opportunities within the existing customer base and among new audiences, and evaluate whether portfolio expansion delivers incremental revenue, customer value, and profit.

Customer lifecycle and lifetime value

  • Own the customer lifecycle from first purchase through onboarding, product adoption, replenishment, cross-selling, subscription retention, and reactivation.
  • Develop pricing and promotional strategies, kits, bundles, and subscription offers that support conversion, margin, and long-term customer value.
  • Lead lifecycle marketing and email and SMS programs. Build coordinated retention strategies across DTC and Amazon, with execution appropriate to each channel.
  • Use cohort performance, repeat purchase, acquisition payback, and customer profitability to evaluate results and guide investment.

Ecommerce and the website experience

  • Own the website's commercial performance and complete customer journey, including product discovery, education, merchandising, landing pages, product pages, cart, and checkout.
  • Build clear purchase journeys across devices and skincare for new and existing customers, including how individual products, kits, and subscriptions are presented.
  • Connect acquisition messaging to the shopping experience and subsequent customer communications.
  • Prioritize and lead conversion improvement and experimentation with creative, development, and agency partners. Use customer behavior and test results to improve conversion and profitable revenue.

Acquisition and commercial channels

  • Lead acquisition strategy, budget allocation, and performance across paid media and emerging channels, directing specialists and agencies against clear economic targets.
  • Lead Amazon and retail through their channel owners, with accountability for commercial plans, channel P&Ls, retailer relationships, and performance.
  • Coordinate assortment, pricing, promotions, and launches across DTC, Amazon, and retail to support the overall business plan.
  • Set priorities and commercial objectives for creators, influencers, affiliates, organic marketing, partnerships, and PR.

Executive and team leadership

  • Serve as the founder's senior partner in running and growing the business, translating company strategy into decisions, priorities, and accountable execution.
  • Lead and develop the marketing and commercial organization, including functional leaders, employees, contractors, and agencies. Set clear responsibilities and build the capabilities the business needs.
  • Establish a disciplined planning and performance cadence. Resolve competing priorities, maintain clear ownership, and ensure decisions lead to completed work.

Brand and creative partnership

  • Partner with the founder and Creative Director on brand positioning, campaign strategy, and briefs, bringing customer insight, product understanding, and commercial priorities. The Creative Director owns creative direction.
  • Guide creative testing priorities and share performance learnings so creative development supports customer understanding, acquisition, and retention.

What success looks like

  • A credible operating plan and demand forecast, with delivery against agreed revenue and profit goals.
  • An expanded product portfolio that produces profitable demand and increases repeat purchase and customer lifetime value.
  • A website and customer lifecycle that make the portfolio easier to understand, purchase, and return to.
  • An accountable organization executing a coordinated plan across DTC, Amazon, and retail.

Requirements

What you bring

A record of helping scale an eight- or nine-figure DTC consumer business, with direct responsibility for financial performance.

Experience owning a business P&L, building budgets and demand forecasts, and making decisions across revenue, margins, spending, and profitability.

Deep product marketing experience, including successful product launches, portfolio expansion, and a clear understanding of customer needs.

Demonstrated improvement in customer value through offers, lifecycle marketing, retention, subscriptions, replenishment, or cross-selling.

Strong ecommerce judgment and experience improving the connection between acquisition, website education, merchandising, conversion, and repeat purchase.

Commercial fluency across DTC, Amazon, and retail, with the ability to lead channel specialists and evaluate their plans and economics.

The ability to lead a lean organization, work closely with a founder and CFO, and make decisions with both strategic perspective and attention to execution.

Experience in beauty, skincare, or beauty devices is strongly preferred. We value the scope and results you have personally owned; a previous CMO title is not required.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience and scope.
  • Performance-based incentives tied to growth and efficiency outcomes.
  • Equity plan
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Paid time off.
  • Hybrid work flexibility

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
