Nurse Practitioner 0.5 FTE Thunder Bay Site One of a network of provincial community health centres, the NorWest Community Health Centres is a community based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services. We are currently seeking a 0.5 FTE permanent Nurse Practitioner, who as a valuable member of the Community Health Centre team will provide addiction medicine and substance use health care within the Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) Clinic. The position has a competitive salary, the Health Care of Ontario’s Pension Plan (HOOP) and an excellent group health benefits package. The pay range for this position is $61.648 to $73.734 per hour. Compensation will commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. We do not use AI to screen resumes. Eligible for the Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN) that provides $25,000 in grant funding to eligible nurses in exchange for a 2 year commitment. Click here for eligibility criteria. Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) from a recognized university. Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) in the Extended Class (CNO-EC). Broad knowledge and interest in community health, substance use health, addictions, and harm reduction. Interest in providing substance use health care and supporting clients across the continuum of substance use. Knowledge of and experience with current and emerging addiction medicine practices, including prescribing and monitoring. Knowledge of managed alcohol administration is an asset. Excellent communication, interpersonal and health education skills. Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of community-based health care. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment. Ability to work at multiple service locations within the Thunder Bay. Demonstrated experience working across all genders, with racialized populations, indigenous peoples, individuals who engage in sex work, individuals who are/have been incarcerated, people with mental health challenges, and people who have experienced trauma.
Awareness of and sensitivity to health issues particularly within individuals who face barriers to accessing care (under housed, living with mental health challenges or diagnoses, current or past substance use, complex health histories, 2SLGBTQIA+, newcomers, non-insured).
