Job Description

At NRI, we bring together deep technology expertise, capability and real-world industry experience to help organisations solve complex challenges and shape what’s next. From IT advisory and enterprise transformation to quality engineering, cyber, cloud and managed services, we work across the full technology lifecycle - turning ideas into outcomes that make a difference. With a global heritage and a strong presence across Australia, New Zealand and Asia, we combine the scale and capability to take on complex challenges with the agility, collaboration and the personal connection of a local team.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Our Finance group plays a vital role in supporting the performance, governance and long-term success of the business. Working across finance, payroll, credit control, procurement and legal, you’ll collaborate with experienced professionals and business leaders to provide the insights, controls and services that keep the organisation running effectively. From managing financial performance and commercial outcomes to supporting compliance, risk management and strategic decision-making, you’ll help enable sustainable growth while ensuring the business operates with confidence and integrity. It’s an opportunity to make a meaningful impact, work across a diverse range of disciplines and contribute to the success of both our people and our clients.

Bring your expertise to our team as a Senior Analyst, BI Reporting, who will own the design, development and delivery of Power BI reporting, ensuring data is reliable, relevant and strengthens the quality, accessibility and insight of NRI’s financial and operational reporting. Reporting to the Head of Commercial Finance and working closely with Finance and stakeholders across the business, you will also support FP&A activities, including budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting cycles. This is an opportunity to combine strong technical capability with commercial understanding, translating complex data into clear, actionable insights that help the business understand performance, identify opportunities and make better decisions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

BI Development & Data Modelling

  • Own end-to-end delivery of Power BI solutions from requirements and wireframing to modelling, DAX, testing, deployment and support.
  • Maintain an enterprise portfolio of 20+ dashboards (finance, workforce, service delivery, sales forecasting, debtors, operations) across multiple regions.
  • Integrate data from Oracle Fusion/OTBI, Salesforce, SharePoint, Excel and CSV using reusable Power Query, DAX measures and dataflows.
  • Manage Power BI Service delivery and releases; monitor, tune and troubleshoot refreshes, performance and incidents.

Commercial Analysis & Performance Insights

  • Analyse financial and operational performance trends to identify opportunities, emerging risks and areas requiring further investigation.
  • Develop and maintain reporting that provides visibility of key commercial metrics, including revenue, gross margin, utilisation, billing rates and workforce costs.
  • Provide timely analysis and insights to support commercial decision-making, business performance reviews and improved financial outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, data visibility and the quality of commercial insights available to business leaders.

FP&A reporting, forecasting and budgeting support

  • Prepare and automate monthly management reporting with actual vs budget/forecast variance commentary; support budget and forecast cycles with models and scenario analysis.
  • Review purchased expenses against budget, investigate significant variances, and automate extraction, reconciliation and variance reporting in Power BI and Power Query.
  • Assess gross margin on new bids, opportunities and renewals, evaluating resource costs, billing rates and projected margins to support pricing and profitability.
  • Maintain Commercial Finance BI, validating and reconciling revenue, timecard, utilisation, billing rate and employee cost data across systems.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end deadlines with reconciled data and clear audit trails.
  • Review of revenue flows ahead of month-end, flagging any unusual movements or variances to Finance and working with them to investigate and resolve any issues.

Governance, Data Quality and Stakeholders

  • Partner with Finance, Operations, People & Culture, Payroll, IT and business leaders to turn reporting needs into clear measures and insights.
  • Validate changes with Finance before release; resolve data-quality issues through reconciliation and root-cause investigation.
  • Apply controls for sensitive data and standardise definitions and documentation.
  • Prioritise multiple projects to deadlines and stay hands-on.
  • Build SharePoint pages and documentation, train and support end-users, and answer report queries.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 3 years’ experience in a similar BI, reporting or data analytics role within a medium to large organisation.
  • Strong hands-on experience with SharePoint, Power BI, DAX and Power Query (M), including data modelling, report development and automation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate business requirements into meaningful reporting and insights.
  • Sound understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and commercial performance measures.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts and insights to non-technical audiences.
  • Well-developed organisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines.
  • Proactive, adaptable and solutions-focused, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Tertiary qualifications in IT, Business, Data Analytics, Finance or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
