The Role: Work Model: Onsite Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm Travel Requirements: None Supervisory Responsibilities: None Reports to: Maintenance Manager Pay Range: $24.75- $27.00 *All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States. No relocation allowance will be considered unless specifically addressed. Summary / Primary Role: The Forklift Mechanic is primarily responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on the company's forklift fleet to help ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently. Approximately 70% of the position is focused on forklift maintenance and repair, supporting a fleet of approximately 30 forklifts located in Fullerton. The remaining portion of the role may include assisting with maintenance and repairs on trucks, trailers, facility equipment, and general building maintenance as needed. This position is ideal for an experienced forklift mechanic or someone with strong mechanical aptitude and related equipment repair experience who is willing and able to learn forklift repair. What You’ll Do:
Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on company forklifts and related material-handling equipment. Work on a variety of forklift equipment, including propane and electric units, pallet jacks, and multiple manufacturers. Diagnose mechanical issues and complete repairs safely and efficiently. Assist with maintenance and repairs on trucks, trailers, and other company equipment as needed. Perform general facility and building maintenance, which may include minor electrical, plumbing, doors, dock equipment, painting, and other general repairs. Assist with welding or fabrication work as needed. Training may be provided for candidates with strong mechanical aptitude. Complete work orders and maintenance documentation accurately, including equipment/unit number, work performed, labor time, and parts used. Maintain and organize assigned tools, equipment, parts, and work areas. Communicate with management and the Safety Department regarding maintenance and safety-related issues. Comply with all OSHA, DOT, CHP, federal, state, and Company safety requirements. Properly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, welding equipment, masks, and other protective equipment as applicable. Assist with BIT inspections, preventive maintenance, or other service needs at outlying terminals as required. Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
What You Bring:
Minimum 1 year of recent forklift mechanic experience is highly preferred. Candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and relevant equipment repair experience may also be considered if willing to learn forklift maintenance and repair. Experience in performing preventive maintenance and mechanical troubleshooting. Familiarity with electrical, hydraulic, brake, battery/charging, engine, or related mechanical systems is preferred. Welding or fabrication experience is a plus; willingness to learn is acceptable. Experience working on propane and/or electric forklifts, pallet jacks, or similar material-handling equipment is preferred. Ability to diagnose mechanical problems independently while knowing when to seek assistance for more complex repairs. Must provide basic mechanic hand tools. Specialty tools will be provided by the Company. Forklift certification is preferred. Ability to safely operate and work around forklifts, pallet jacks, trucks, trailers, containers, lift gates, power tools, and related equipment. Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple repair and maintenance assignments. Dependable, punctual, safety-focused, and accountable. Professional and respectful communication skills. Must be able to comply with all Company safety policies and required PPE standards.
