About One Acre Fund

Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund equips 5.5 million smallholder farmers to make their farms more productive. Across nine countries that together are home to two-thirds of Africa's farmers, we provide high-quality farm supplies, tree seedlings, accessible credit, modern agronomic training, and a wide range of other agricultural services. On average, this model enables any farmer to increase their income and assets on supported land by more than 35 percent, while permanently improving their resilience. This is all made possible by our team of 9,000+ full-time staff, drawn from diverse backgrounds and professions. To learn more, please see our Why Work Here blog post.

Our Rwanda program, founded in 2007 is our largest and operates under the local brand Tubura. We have more than 3,000 staff across all four provinces of Rwanda, as well as in Kigali. Together, we served more than 2.8 million farmers in 2024. We work closely with the government to support national efforts to improve food security. Additionally, we help channel funding and resources to promising agri-SMEs, supporting farmers by providing a market for high-impact crops such as coffee, avocado, and chili.

About the Role

The Rwanda Financial Advisory Associate is responsible for the end-to-end ownership of internal and external financial reporting and compliance for the Rwanda Program.

The role entails quality financial closes, robust internal and regulatory compliance management across all programs, reporting to external stakeholders, strategic financial planning and analysis, and finance business partnering.

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting, Compliance & Governance

  • Lead and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely inputs, accurate reporting, completion of close actions, and resolution of outstanding issues.
  • Oversee the quality of financial reports, budget-versus-actual (BVA) analysis, and management reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Own the tax compliance workstream for assigned business units and provide programme-level oversight, addressing risks relating to VAT, invoicing, related-party transactions, and other tax requirements.
  • Coordinate with FRC teams, FAS Business Partners, Accounting, Legal, and Government Relations to resolve compliance gaps, support annual financial statements, manage audit findings, and strengthen financial controls.

Grant Financial Management & Donor Reporting

  • Oversee financial tracking, reporting, and compliance for major grants, including the Howard Graham Buffer Foundation (HGBF) and Mastercard Foundation (MCF).
  • Monitor grant expenditure, budgets, fund utilisation, and reporting requirements, ensuring alignment with approved grant agreements and organisational financial objectives.
  • Coordinate with the Rwanda Chief of Staff, Global Grants team, and relevant programme stakeholders to ensure accurate donor reporting and effective utilisation of grant funds.
  • Manage the financial reporting of shared service charges from the Rwanda team and provide regular updates on incremental grants to FinCom and/or the Rwanda CEO.

Financial Advisory, Business Partnering & Performance Management

  • Lead monthly and quarterly BVA, forecasting, and management reporting processes in partnership with assigned department and business unit leaders.
  • Advise business partners on operational and financial performance, identifying trends, cost pressures, opportunities, and risks, and translating analysis into practical recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain performance management tools, including rolling gross margin models, receivables trackers, and other reporting mechanisms that provide visibility into revenue, costs, margins, and collections.
  • Prepare and present quarterly management reports and leadership updates, escalating material financial and enterprise risks and supporting the development of appropriate mitigation plans.

Financial Modelling, Budgeting & Strategic Planning

  • Build and maintain driver-based financial models linking operational performance to financial outcomes, including gross margin, budget, forecast, and long-term planning models.
  • Lead annual budget preparation and support five-year financial planning with department and business unit leaders, ensuring assumptions are robust and aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Own monthly projections and rolling forecasts for assigned business units, conducting scenario and sensitivity analysis across key drivers such as volumes, pricing, costs, foreign exchange, and product mix.
  • Translate financial models, operational data, and performance trends into clear insights and recommendations, advising leadership on financial trade-offs, strategic adjustments, and resource allocation.

Financial Risk Management, Stakeholder Coordination & Process Improvement

  • Proactively identify, assess, and monitor financial, operational, tax, and enterprise risks across assigned business units, recommending mitigation actions and escalating material issues.
  • Strengthen coordination between Finance, Accounting, FRC, FAS, Grants, Legal, and programme teams to improve reporting quality, compliance, and financial decision-making.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
