Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Health Information specialist to work remotely, managing and protecting patient health information while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This role is crucial for maintaining data quality, accessibility, and confidentiality within our health information systems.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will possess a Strong understanding of HIPAA and healthcare compliance. Has experience auditing, resolving data discrepancies, and developing HIM policies/procedures. Possesses excellent attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills. Technically savvy with healthcare data analytics and coding systems (ICD-10, CPT). Ideally has training or supervisory experience and is comfortable working independently in a remote environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the collection, organization, and maintenance of patient health information, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

• Ensure adherence to relevant regulations, including HIPAA, and other relevant standards.

• Conduct regular reviews of patient records to identify and resolve discrepancies or deficiencies.

• Assist in the implementation and maintenance of electronic health record (EHR) systems.

• Possess knowledge of and experience with Release of Information (ROI) processes, ensuring the secure and compliant handling of patient health records in accordance with regulatory requirements.

• Develop and deliver training programs for staff on health information management practices remotely.

• Serve as a point of contact for inquiries related to health information management.

• Conduct audits to ensure the accuracy and security of patient information.

• Manage data collection for reporting and analysis.

• Develop policies and procedures for health information management.

• Collaborate with IT professionals to maintain system integrity.

• Ensure that patient information is accessible to authorized personnel while maintaining confidentiality.

• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in patient data.

• Support clinical research by providing accurate health information data.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.

• Advanced degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.

• Certification in Health Information Management (RHIA, RHIT).

• Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.

• Familiarity with healthcare data analytics.

• Experience in a supervisory or managerial role.

• Knowledge of coding systems like ICD-10 and CPT

• Strong understanding of healthcare compliance and regulations.

• Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).

• Proficient in the use of health information systems and EHR software.

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures.

• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

• Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.

• Problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
