ABOUT THE ROLE
At Pennant, we're committed to providing exceptional care to every patient we serve. We believe technology should help our clinicians do just that, by taking on the tasks they're less passionate about so they can focus on what they love most: caring for patients.
Pennant Services is hiring a Product Manager to make the technology our clinicians and operations teams use every day simpler, faster and easier to work with. You'll focus on results that matter to two groups: clinicians caring for patients in the field, and the back-office teams supporting home health, hospice, home care and senior living.
You'll build on our EMR foundation, extending and connecting it with the products around it so clinicians spend less time on technology and more time with patients. You'll join a small, cross-functional product team of engineers, designers and a product analyst, reporting to product leadership.
Every tool we build has to earn its place. We're focused on products that grow revenue, protect margins, reduce direct and indirect costs, and improve patient satisfaction and care quality outcomes. You'll help define what that looks like and deliver it.
Location: Utah, or remote
Type: Full-time
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Make the clinician's day seamless
- Partner with field clinicians, office and back-office staff, and agency leaders across our care settings to understand how care actually gets delivered, across the full patient journey, from intake and admission through visits, documentation, billing and discharge
- Identify opportunities in EMR workflows and the tools around it, and turn it into clear problem statements and prioritized opportunities
- Define and ship solutions that reduce clicks, duplicate entry and after-hours charting, measured by clinician time saved and adoption
- Help shape AI-enabled tools that take routine, time-consuming work off clinicians' and staff members' plates
Improve back-office operations
- Partner with intake, scheduling, billing, quality and operations teams to streamline the work behind every visit
- Find opportunities to automate or simplify processes that span home health, hospice, home care and senior living
Shape strategy and drive delivery
- Help define outcome-based goals for your product area and tie them to operational and clinical KPIs
- Shape and maintain the roadmap for your product area in partnership with product leadership; own the backlog and write clear requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria
- Work daily with engineering and design to slice work into releases that deliver value quickly
- Coordinate with design on how the product looks, feels and works, caring about the details that make it intuitive and grounding every decision in how clinicians and staff actually work
- Measure results after launch and iterate based on data and field feedback
- Partner with engineering on testing and user acceptance testing, validating that releases are reliable and work as intended before they reach clinicians
- Stay current on the post-acute technology landscape, including competitors and emerging tools, to spot opportunities and inform priorities
Assess feasibility and evaluate vendors
- Evaluate technical feasibility with engineering, including EMR integrations, APIs, data flows and constraints
- Partner on vendor discovery, evaluation and selection, bringing user needs, technical feasibility and the business case to each decision
- Make clear build, buy or partner recommendations with the tradeoffs spelled out
Communicate and enable
- Keep leadership, operations and the field informed about what's coming and why it matters
- Partner on training, release communication and change management so new tools actually get used
- Create clear, user-friendly guides, walkthroughs and release notes that explain product functionality to clinicians and office staff
- Bridge the gap between end users, stakeholders and organizational leaders with support from product leadership, translating field needs into business priorities and business goals into tools people want to use
WHAT YOU BRING
- 5+ years of product related experience, including experience with healthcare or workflow-heavy SaaS products, or equivalent experience in healthcare technology, EMR implementation or clinical operations
- Required hands-on experience with a home health or hospice EMR as a user, administrator, implementer or product partner
- Demonstrated end-to-end product ownership, including discovery, prioritization, requirements, delivery, launch and measurement of outcomes for frontline users
- Comfort assessing technical feasibility: you can talk APIs, integrations and data with engineers and ask the right questions
- Strong analytical skills; you use data to frame problems, prioritize and prove impact
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication, from user stories to executive updates
- Ability to lead by influence and build alignment across clinical, operational and technical teams
- A go-getter mindset: you take ownership, move without waiting for perfect information and follow through
- Innovative and creative: you bring new ideas that move our clinical, operational and financial outcomes, look past the obvious fix, and find practical ways to make them work
- Working knowledge of Agile practices and modern product discovery
- Curiosity and empathy; you ask questions before proposing solutions
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with back-office workflows such as intake, scheduling, billing, revenue cycle or quality
- Experience evaluating or working with software vendors or technology partners
- Exposure to more than one care setting: home health, hospice, home care or senior living
- Clinical or field operations background (RN, therapist, clinical manager, agency operations)
- Familiarity with post-acute regulatory and compliance requirements, such as CMS Conditions of Participation, HIPAA, OASIS, PDGM and hospice CAHPS
- Experience building mobile or clinician-facing products
- Fluency with AI tools and a habit of using them to speed up research, analysis and writing
- Bachelor's degree in a technical, healthcare or business field, or equivalent experience
