Investment Counsellor – Hong Kong

We are partnering with a newly established External Asset Manager (EAM) in Hong Kong that is looking to strengthen its investment advisory capabilities with the appointment of an experienced Investment Counsellor.

This opportunity is well suited to an investment professional who enjoys working closely with Relationship Managers and HNW/UHNW clients, and who is keen to be part of a growing platform where they can play an active role in developing the firm's investment proposition.

The role will focus on providing holistic investment advisory and portfolio solutions across multiple asset classes, while partnering closely with Relationship Managers to identify investment opportunities, deepen client engagement and support the growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise HNW/UHNW clients across Asia on portfolio positioning, investment strategies and market opportunities
  • Provide asset allocation and portfolio construction recommendations based on clients' investment objectives, risk profiles and market conditions
  • Advise across a broad range of asset classes, including Equities, Fixed Income, Funds, FX, Structured Products and Alternatives
  • Partner closely with Relationship Managers on client acquisition, investment discussions and ongoing portfolio reviews
  • Develop investment ideas and translate market views into actionable recommendations for clients
  • Monitor global and regional market developments and proactively identify relevant investment opportunities
  • Support portfolio rebalancing, diversification and investment risk management discussions
  • Conduct investment presentations, market updates and portfolio discussions with clients
  • Provide investment content, market insights and product knowledge to support Relationship Managers
  • Work closely with product providers, private banks and other external partners to identify suitable investment solutions
  • Contribute to the continued development of the firm's investment advisory framework and proposition
  • Ensure all investment advisory activities are conducted in accordance with internal governance and applicable regulatory requirements

Requirements

  • 7–10 years of experience in Investment Advisory, Investment Counselling or Portfolio Advisory within Private Banking, Wealth Management, EAM or Family Office environments
  • Strong knowledge of multi-asset investments and portfolio construction
  • Good understanding of Equities, Fixed Income, Funds, FX, Structured Products and other investment solutions
  • Demonstrated experience advising HNW/UHNW clients and working closely with Relationship Managers
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, investment themes and portfolio risk
  • Experience within an EAM, Family Office or Private Banking environment would be highly preferred
  • CFA or other investment-related professional qualifications would be advantageous
  • Strong communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills
  • Commercially minded, collaborative and comfortable working within a growing and entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong interest in investments, financial markets and developing client-focused investment solutions
  • Fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin, as the role requires regular communication with internal and external stakeholders and Greater China clients
