As a Front Office Clinic Assistant, you'll help patients navigate their visits while supporting the daily operations of a busy health center. On a typical day, you might:
Welcome patients and help them check in and out of appointments
Schedule appointments and respond to patient questions by phone and in person
Register patients and maintain accurate demographic and insurance information
Explain payment options, collect payments, and assist with financial paperwork
Maintain accurate patient records using our electronic health record (EHR) system
Coordinate with clinicians and other health center staff to keep patient visits running smoothly
Help patients navigate paperwork, services, and next steps in their care
Protect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality
Provide compassionate, inclusive, and judgment-free customer service to patients from diverse backgrounds
Schedule & Location This is a full-time, onsite position (37.5 hours/week) at our Northeast Family Planning Health Center in Portland, Oregon.
Day Schedule
Monday Off
Tuesday 9:30am–5:30pm
Wednesday 11:30am–7:30pm
Thursday 9:30am–5:30pm
Friday 9:30am–5:30pm
Saturday 8:30am–4:30pm
Sunday Off
Candidates must be able to reliably work this schedule, including Saturdays. Employees may be requested or required to occasionally work other days (including weekends), hours, and locations to meet operational needs. Bilingual Spanish skills are preferred but not required. What We're Looking For Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
At least two years of customer service experience, preferably in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Ability to provide welcoming, respectful service to people from diverse backgrounds
Comfort using computers and learning new software systems
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Commitment to patient confidentiality, inclusion, and equitable access to health care
Nice to Have:
Experience in a health care setting, medical office, or patient-facing role
Experience with scheduling, registration, insurance verification, or payment processing
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR)
Bilingual Spanish skills or proficiency in another language
Pay & Growth $20.37–$29.68/hour Pay is based on experience and internal equity. Most new hires start toward the lower end of the range, with room to grow. Additional pay opportunities:
Bilingual premium: +$1.72/hour
Interpreter-level premium: +$3.44/hour
