Role Overview

A game art and creative production company is seeking a 3D Environment Artist to create high-quality 3D environment assets for game projects across different platforms and genres.

This role is responsible for interpreting client briefs, creating production-ready 3D assets, supporting pre-production activities, and ensuring output meets artistic, technical, and delivery standards. The position also includes elements of peer guidance, effort estimation, troubleshooting, and first-level review of assets when required.

Key Responsibilities

The 3D Environment Artist will study and interpret client briefs, specifications, and project requirements to ensure a clear understanding of the expected output before production begins. The role involves supporting pre-production activities by collecting references, preparing checklists, identifying potential questions for clarification, and helping define asset creation workflows.

The successful candidate will create high-quality, error-free 3D environment assets that meet client specifications, technical standards, and project timelines. This includes producing benchmark or sample assets when needed to help establish the required quality level and workflow for the project.

The role also requires delivering files according to agreed naming conventions, folder structures, technical requirements, and production best practices. The artist will be expected to work efficiently within budgeted effort and support the overall productivity of the project.

In addition to asset creation, the 3D Environment Artist may assist in effort estimation for new work, troubleshoot production issues, provide guidance to other artists, and conduct first-level checks of peer or junior work to ensure alignment with artistic and technical requirements.

The position requires active participation in team meetings, clear communication with leads and project managers, and timely updates on work status, risks, blockers, or delivery concerns. The artist is expected to contribute ideas, raise red flags where needed, and support project success through both individual execution and team collaboration.

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of experience creating 3D art assets for AAA game titles or similar high-quality game production environments.

Candidates should have excellent 3D environment creation skills and strong knowledge of the game art production pipeline. A high level of proficiency in industry-standard tools such as Maya, 3ds Max, Photoshop, and ZBrush is required.

Hands-on experience with tools such as Substance Painter, Substance Designer, and Blender is highly valuable. Strong knowledge of real-time shaders and game engines such as Unreal Engine and Unity is also important.

The role requires strong attention to detail, good written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently as a self-starter while also contributing effectively within a team environment.

Candidates should be able to estimate work effort, follow technical and artistic requirements, solve production-related issues, and support other artists when needed. A professional, collaborative, and quality-focused approach is essential.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
