Job Description:

POLITICO is seeking a creative and strategic Senior Video Producer to help make and grow our video products across YouTube, podcasts and social media. This role is a player-coach — you’ll be a hands-on producer and editor for key interviews and series, and work with the team on strategy and execution of other projects.

You’ll join in shaping the visual identity and creative direction of multiple video products, working closely with hosts, editors, and newsroom partners to turn strong reporting into compelling, distinctive video. You’ll also play a key role in POLITICO’s YouTube presence — from programming strategy to growth and performance.

Who You Are:

  • An experienced video producer with a strong editorial sensibility and a track record of building and overseeing video projects — including booking and managing crews for field shoots.
  • A great video editor, who can create excellent videos and give guidance to the edits of others.
  • A creative editor and storyteller who enjoys shaping look, feel, and format — not just executing a run of show.
  • A strategic thinker who understands how video lives on YouTube and other platforms, and how to design content accordingly.
  • A strong collaborator who can work across the newsroom to surface smart ideas and translate them into scalable video concepts.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the production of a weekly video show — including running field shoots (when needed), overseeing recording sessions, and editing a strong video from beginning to end.
  • Help oversee POLITICO’s long-form video podcast ecosystem, helping define the visual identity, brand, and publishing strategy for each show — and ensuring they feel distinct from one another.
  • Grow POLITICO’s YouTube channel, including strategy, programming mix, performance analysis, and audience growth.
  • Work with more junior video editors on social videos and other projects, giving feedback as necessary.
  • Assist on key projects, big interviews, high-profile news moments, and other such needs as they arise.

What You’ll Need:

  • 6+ years of experience producing video, ideally in news, politics, or policy. Experience with audio is a strong plus.
  • Significant experience with video editing and post-production workflows, as well as overseeing the work of other editors.
  • Strong editorial judgment grounded in journalistic standards and POLITICO’s mission. Experience managing projects in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
  • Deep familiarity with YouTube strategy, analytics, and platform-specific best practices.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple projects at once.
  • Comfort experimenting with new formats and iterating based on performance and feedback.

Compensation:

  • $100,000-$135,000 Annual Base. The final salary offered will be based on factors including relevant experience, skills, and qualifications.
