Job Description

NHS Band 8a Salary: £57,528 - £64,750 per annum

Hours Per Week: Full time 37.5

Contract Type: 12 month Fixed term contract

Our innovative and skilled Gynaecology Department consists of a large, friendly group of dedicated multidisciplinary professionals, where clinicians, nurses, ACPs and admin staff 'work as one' for our patients. As part of this, we are in the process of expanding our Cancer Diagnostic capacity and we want to find a talented, committed and enthusiastic Nurse Hysteroscopist.

This is an exciting opportunity and you would play a leading role in the delivery and development of a modern hysteroscopy service, providing high-quality, compassionate care to women across the pathway while helping shape the future of the service. Whilst this job is fixed term for now, the establishment of a sustainable expanded service is our top priority.

About the Role

As a Nurse Hysteroscopist, you will work autonomously to assess, diagnose and manage women referred to the hysteroscopy service. You will be responsible for delivering complete episodes of care, from initial assessment and investigation through to treatment, follow-up and discharge, ensuring patients receive safe, timely and personalised care.

Working within national guidelines and evidence-based practice, you will use your advanced clinical skills to undertake hysteroscopy procedures, make complex clinical decisions and provide expert advice and support to patients and colleagues.

Alongside your clinical practice, you will have a key role in service development, quality improvement, education and leadership, helping to ensure our hysteroscopy service remains at the forefront of women's healthcare.

Whilst this role is advertised as an 8a, we are open to applications from Band 7 hysteroscopy nurses who are looking for advancement as well.

What You'll Be Doing

Advanced Clinical Practice

  • Independently assess, diagnose and manage women attending the hysteroscopy service.
  • Deliver complete episodes of care, including examination, hysteroscopy procedures, interpretation of investigations, treatment planning and discharge.
  • Provide expert clinical advice and compassionate support to patients throughout their care journey.
  • Promote informed decision-making, patient choice and excellent patient experiences.
  • Work in accordance with BSGE, NICE and RCOG guidance, maintaining the highest standards of clinical quality and safety.

Service Development and Improvement

  • Lead audits, quality improvement initiatives and service evaluations.
  • Help shape clinical pathways, protocols and patient information resources.
  • Work collaboratively with Consultants, senior nurses and managers to further develop and expand the service.
  • Support innovation and the adoption of evidence-based practice.

Leadership and Team Working

  • Act as a respected clinical leader within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide specialist advice and support to colleagues across Women's Services.
  • Contribute to workforce planning, clinic management and service performance.
  • Support and mentor nursing and medical colleagues, helping develop future specialist practitioners.

Education and Research

  • Deliver education and training programmes to healthcare professionals and learners.
  • Support clinical supervision, mentorship and professional development.
  • Contribute to research, audit and dissemination of best practice.
  • Maintain and develop advanced clinical competencies through continuing professional development.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for an experienced nurse who is passionate about women's healthcare and committed to delivering outstanding patient-centred care. You will be an excellent communicator, confident working autonomously and enthusiastic about leading service improvement and innovation.

You should demonstrate:

  • Significant experience in gynaecology and women's health services.
  • Advanced clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Hysteroscopy competence or relevant advanced practice experience.
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice, quality improvement and patient safety.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and team-working skills.
  • A desire to support and develop others through teaching and mentorship.

Why Join Us?

This is a unique opportunity to become part of a supportive and ambitious team dedicated to improving women's health services. You'll have the chance to work at an advanced level, influence service development, participate in research and innovation, and make a meaningful difference to the experience and outcomes of the women we care for.

If you are passionate about delivering exceptional care and want to help shape the future of hysteroscopy services, we would love to hear from you.

Should you wish to discuss this role, please feel free to contact Lucy Vollentine, Women and Children Care Group Manager ([email protected]), or Bev Ross, Snr Matron ([email protected]). Thank you for your interest.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
