Position Summary

The Senior Product Manager is responsible for developing and executing product and category strategies that drive profitable growth, strengthen market position, and improve portfolio performance across assigned building-products categories.

This role manages products throughout the lifecycle, from customer and market analysis through development, launch, commercialization, optimization, and rationalization. The Senior Product Manager partners with Sales, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Marketing, and vendor partners to turn market insights into commercially successful products and programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify market opportunities, portfolio gaps, line extensions, and product improvements.
  • Conduct customer, contractor, channel, and competitive research to guide product decisions.
  • Develop differentiated value propositions based on customer needs and product applications.
  • Lead SKU rationalization and recommend product additions, conversions, consolidations, or discontinuations.

Financial and Commercial Performance

  • Own revenue, gross-margin, pricing, product-mix, and portfolio-performance objectives for assigned categories.
  • Analyze sales, cost, margin, inventory, competitive pricing, and market trends.
  • Recommend pricing, sourcing, promotional, and assortment actions that improve profitable growth.
  • Provide regular performance reporting, business insights, risks, and recommended actions to leadership.

New Product Development and Go-to-Market

  • Build and execute go-to-market plans for new products, line extensions, and major program changes.
  • Coordinate launch activities across Sales, Sourcing, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, and Marketing.
  • Measure launch performance and implement corrective actions when results fall below expectations.

Inventory and Lifecycle Management

  • Monitor inventory health, forecasts, demand, service levels, and product transitions.
  • Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to address excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory.
  • Develop commercialization, conversion, or exit plans that minimize customer disruption and stranded inventory.

Vendor and Sales Partnership

  • Partner with Sourcing and vendors on product opportunities, cost improvements, program reviews, and joint business planning.
  • Develop product training, sales presentations, competitive comparisons, playbooks, and value-based selling tools.
  • Support customer line reviews, field meetings, product launches, and strategic sales opportunities.
  • Serve as the product and commercial expert for assigned categories.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, finance, engineering, supply chain, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of experience in product management, product marketing, category management, sourcing, or commercial strategy.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a product category, portfolio, or commercially significant program.
  • Experience developing business cases, pricing recommendations, product launches, and go-to-market plans.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including sales, margin, cost, pricing, forecast, and inventory analysis.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and executive-communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Building-products, construction-products, industrial distribution, manufacturing, or related B2B experience preferred.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
