Position: Steward (Recycling Operator)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Recycling Operator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the recycling program at our properties, ensuring that all waste is properly sorted and disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. The Recycling Operator will play a crucial role in our sustainability efforts and will help us achieve our goal of becoming a zero-waste company working closely with the Quality and Stewarding Department.

Key Responsibilities:

Implement and maintain a comprehensive recycling program at all Princess Hotels & Resorts Jamaica properties

Educate and train staff on proper recycling procedures and guidelines

Monitor waste disposal practices and identify areas for improvement

Sort and process recyclable materials, including paper, plastic, glass, and aluminum

Operate recycling equipment, such as balers and compactors

Maintain accurate records of recycling activities and report on progress to management

Collaborate with local waste management companies to ensure proper disposal and recycling of materials

Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices for recycling and waste management

Continuously look for ways to improve and expand our recycling program

Assist with other sustainability initiatives as needed

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent

Previous experience in recycling or waste management preferred

Knowledge of different types of recyclable materials and their proper disposal methods

Familiarity with recycling equipment and machinery

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Passion for sustainability and protecting the environment

Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays if needed
