The posting

About the Role We are looking for an experienced Ford Certified Transmission Technician to join our Service Department. This specialized role focuses on the expert diagnosis, repair, rebuild, and replacement of automatic and manual transmissions in Ford (and Lincoln) vehicles. You will work with the latest diagnostic tools, Ford factory procedures, and specialized equipment to deliver high-quality, warranty-compliant repairs while supporting outstanding customer service.

Key Duties & Responsibilities • Diagnose transmission-related concerns using Ford diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and specialized service tools (including electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems). • Perform complete transmission inspections, fluid services, filter replacements, flushes, and scheduled maintenance. • Remove, disassemble, rebuild/overhaul, and reinstall automatic and manual transmissions, transaxles, torque converters, valve bodies, clutches, seals, solenoids, and related components. • Repair or replace transmission control modules (TCMs), sensors, and electronic controls. • Test-drive vehicles to verify repairs and ensure proper shifting, drivability, and performance to manufacturer specifications. • Execute warranty repairs strictly according to Ford Motor Company guidelines and workshop manuals. • Communicate findings, additional recommended repairs, and time estimates clearly to Service Advisors. • Maintain accurate documentation of all work performed, parts used, and diagnostic results on repair orders. • Keep a clean, organized, and safe work area, especially during transmission teardown and rebuild processes. • Properly tag, handle, and return warranty parts; follow all environmental and fluid disposal regulations. • Stay current with Ford Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs), recalls, and new transmission technologies. • Collaborate with other technicians, parts staff, and management to ensure efficient workflow. • Perform related automotive repairs as needed (engine, electrical, driveline, etc.) while specializing in transmissions. • Maintain personal tools and properly care for dealership specialty equipment.

Required Certifications & Qualifications • Ford Certification required — specifically Ford Service Technician Specialty Training (STST) or equivalent Ford Transmission Certification (Automatic Transmission/Transaxle preferred). Candidates with current Ford STARS credits leading to full certification will also be considered. • High school diploma or GED required. • Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience as an automotive technician specializing in transmission diagnosis and repair (Ford dealership experience strongly preferred). • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. • Strong mechanical aptitude, diagnostic skills, and attention to detail. • Ability to use electronic diagnostic equipment, Ford IDS/FDRS (or current Ford diagnostic systems), and specialized transmission tools. • Own a complete set of professional tools. • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding shop environment. • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude. • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced dealership environment while maintaining high-quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications • ASE Certification in Automatic Transmission/Transaxle (A2) and/or Manual Drive Train & Axles (A3). • Additional Ford STST certifications (Electrical, Engine Performance, etc.). • Experience with common Ford transmission models (e.g., 6R80, 10R80, 6F35, 5R55, and newer units). • Prior experience performing full transmission rebuilds and valve body work. • Familiarity with dealership management systems (CDK, Reynolds, etc.).

What We Offer • Competitive flat-rate or hourly pay (based on experience and certifications) with strong earning potential. • [Benefits: Health, dental, vision insurance, 401(k), paid time off, paid training, tool assistance, employee vehicle purchase/lease programs, etc. – customize as needed] • Ongoing Ford factory training and certification support. • Clean, well-equipped shop with modern diagnostic tools and specialty transmission equipment. • Opportunity for career growth in a professional Ford dealership environment.

To Apply: Please submit your resume highlighting your Ford certification status, transmission experience, and any ASE credentials to [email protected] or apply online at Prosperford.com We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
