The role brings health, safety and environmental expertise through leadership, disciplined execution, employee engagement, coaching and continuous improvement. This is a newly created HSE Manager position with multi-site responsibility, accountable for building a proactive safety culture in which hazards and environmental aspects are identified, risks are assessed and controlled, employees are confident to raise concerns, and leaders actively reinforce safe behaviours and environmental responsibility. The Victorian HSE Manager partners with site leaders, employees and business functions to meet legal and due diligence obligations, obtain inital ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certification, assist in creating standard operating procedures, lead investigations, complete risk assessments and deliver measurable improvement in HSE performance across all three sites.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead HSE strategy, priorities and improvement plans across the Maidstone, Altona and Dandenong sites, ensuring a consistent multi-site approach.
  • Lead the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems, including internal and external audit readiness.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of site operations, hazards and environmental aspects, and develop practical prevention and risk-reduction strategies.
  • Build a proactive safety culture through visible leadership, safety conversations, coaching and behavioural change initiatives.
  • Engage, coach and influence site leaders, supervisors and employees to strengthen HSE ownership, accountability and safe behaviours.
  • Lead risk assessments, incident and near-miss investigations, root-cause analysis and the timely close-out of corrective actions.
  • Develop, review and implement standard operating procedures, safe work instructions, HSE procedures and supporting tools in consultation with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure applicable Victorian and Commonwealth HSE legal requirements, due diligence obligations and company standards are understood and implemented.
  • Liaise with regulators and relevant agencies, ensuring notices, directions and required actions are escalated, managed and closed out effectively.
  • Develop and deliver targeted HSE training and awareness programs based on operational risks, competency needs and business priorities.
  • Chair or support site HSE committee meetings, ensuring employee concerns, consultation outcomes and agreed actions are documented and closed out.
  • Analyse HSE data and trends, prepare reports and provide practical recommendations to site and Oceania leadership.
  • Support return-to-work, rehabilitation and employee wellbeing activities in partnership with relevant coordinators and business stakeholders.
  • Share incident learnings, best practices and HSE alerts across Victorian sites and the broader business.
  • Monitor improvement plans, resources and expenditure to ensure HSE initiatives are delivered within agreed timeframes, budgets and quality expectations.
  • Monitor and report on training expenditure to meet budget requirements and identify cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Build a strong safety engagement and enablement culture through learning, development and team-based problem-solving initiatives.
  • Support leaders in identifying individual competency and skill gaps and coordinating appropriate development activities.
  • Conduct safety training needs analyses and identify development priorities for frontline teams in partnership with operators, leaders and managers.
  • Develop training programs aligned with identified needs, leveraging internal and external subject matter experts and e-learning platforms where appropriate.
  • Implement training plans in partnership with Manufacturing, Logistics and Warehousing managers, coordinators and subject matter experts.
  • Ensure company policies, procedures and applicable legal requirements are incorporated into training programs and embedded into daily practices.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • 5+ years’ HSE experience in manufacturing, engineering, logistics or a similar operational environment.
  • Experience leading HSE across multiple sites and driving a strong safety culture.
  • Strong knowledge of Victorian HSE legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Practical experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems and audits.
  • Strong skills in risk assessment, incident investigation and root-cause analysis.
  • Experience developing SOPs, safe work instructions and HSE procedures.
  • Strong communication, coaching and influencing skills across all levels of the business.
  • Relevant qualification in Work Health & Safety, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
  • Current driver licence and ability to travel regularly between Victorian sites.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a global leader in energy and telecom cable and connectivity systems.
  • Work in a dynamic, inclusive, and driven and safety-focused environment.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
