Are you a technical sales professional who thrives on building relationships, uncovering new business opportunities, and helping customers solve complex challenges? The Advanced Materials Sales Engineer will play a key role in expanding our Advanced Materials business through strategic B2B sales, technical innovation, and customer partnerships.

In this role, you’ll combine consultative selling with technical expertise to develop new accounts, grow existing business, and introduce advanced material solutions to customers across global markets. You’ll work closely with customers, suppliers, Research & Development (R&D), and manufacturing teams to identify emerging needs, develop customized solutions, and bring new products from concept to commercialization.

If you’re motivated by sales growth, enjoy navigating complex technical applications, and know how to turn customer challenges into profitable business opportunities, this job is for you!

What You’ll Do

Drive New Business Development

  • Identify, prospect, and develop new B2B customers, accounts, and industry verticals.
  • Build relationships with key decision-makers, understand customer needs, and position Pyrotek’s products and technical services as solutions to their challenges.
  • Generate leads through proactive outreach, referrals, trade shows, industry events, and market research.
  • Develop pricing strategies, prepare quotations, and present compelling proposals that demonstrate customer value.
  • Identify emerging market trends and new product opportunities to expand Pyrotek’s Advanced Materials portfolio.
  • Collaborate with customers, R&D, and manufacturing to develop new or modified products, support proof-of-concept projects and initial trials, and drive commercialization.

Grow and Strengthen Customer Accounts

  • Build trusted, long-term relationships with new and existing customers through responsive service, technical expertise, and consistent follow-through.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing accounts through cross-selling, additional products, and new applications.
  • Negotiate pricing, minimum order quantities, and supply agreements while balancing customer needs, profitability, and sustainable business growth.
  • Provide technical guidance, product presentations, training, and solutions tailored to customer specifications.
  • Monitor competitive activity, identify opportunities to strengthen Pyrotek’s market position, and develop strategies to achieve sales and gross profit targets.
  • Visit customer facilities to strengthen relationships, understand operating environments, and uncover opportunities for additional business.

Deliver Technical and Commercial Solutions

  • Evaluate customer applications and operating environments to recommend appropriate materials, products, equipment, and technical services.
  • Translate customer requirements into customized proposals, technical recommendations, feasibility assessments, and return-on-investment (ROI) calculations.
  • Partner with internal sales, manufacturing, operations, customer service, and supply chain teams to meet customer expectations and support successful order fulfillment.
  • Manage customer inquiries, troubleshoot product or service concerns, and coordinate timely resolutions.
  • Analyze sales performance, market conditions, and customer data to identify opportunities, inform business decisions, and support profitable growth.

Manage Suppliers and Strategic Partnerships

  • Work with internal manufacturing teams and external suppliers to source products and raw materials that meet customer requirements.
  • Negotiate commercial terms and monitor supplier performance, product quality, availability, and supply chain risks.
  • Collaborate with management to identify strategic product lines, evaluate new markets, and develop sales strategies that support long-term business growth.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, sales activity reports, customer communications, and travel expense documentation.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Business, or a related discipline, plus at least three years of technical sales and/or customer-facing experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in B2B technical sales, consultative selling, account development, or industrial customer relationship management.

  • Skill in translating technical requirements into practical solutions and communicating product value to both technical and business audiences.
  • Strong analytical and financial skills, including evaluating profitability, preparing quotations, and developing business cases or ROI calculations.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with quoting tools, ERP systems, or sales analytics platforms is beneficial.

Relationship-Building & Communication

  • A proactive, self-directed approach to identifying opportunities and achieving sales goals.
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to build credibility with engineers, operators, procurement professionals, and executive decision-makers.
  • Persistence and resilience when navigating sales objections, competitive challenges, and changing priorities.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively across sales, R&D, manufacturing, operations, and supply chain teams.
  • A commitment to professional integrity, continuous learning, customer satisfaction, and long-term partnership development.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
