Job Description
Help residents take their next steps towards a settled home and build a secure, independent future
As an Accommodation Solutions and Resettlement Officer, you’ll play a pivotal role in helping households facing homelessness find safety, security and stability. You’ll be a trusted point of contact, guiding residents through urgent housing challenges and providing clear, practical advice to help them move forward.
What you’ll be doing
Your focus will be on providing compassionate, practical support to households experiencing homelessness. In this varied, resident-facing role, you’ll assess accommodation suitability, coordinate urgent placements and facilitate smooth moves into safe, stable housing.
Day-to-day casework will involve regular visits to residents, working directly with accommodation providers and partner agencies to resolve issues quickly. You’ll complete tenancy audits, contribute to suitability reviews and help households transition out of high-cost emergency accommodation into sustainable, settled homes. When tenancy or accommodation issues arise, you’ll step in with early advice, practical solutions and appropriate enforcement action when necessary.
You’ll also collaborate closely across housing, legal and social care services to make the most equitable use of available resources. This is a demanding frontline position where you’ll manage competing deadlines and maintain accurate, high-quality records for cases that can attract scrutiny through ombudsman enquiries or legal challenges. Through it all, your priority will be achieving fair, transparent and lasting solutions for the families and individuals who need us most.

What you’ll bring
You’ll bring a strong background in frontline housing services, supported by a solid understanding of homelessness legislation, housing needs and welfare reform. You will also have hands-on experience managing temporary accommodation placements, move-on planning, suitability reviews and housing case-management systems.
Resilience, empathy and professional judgement are essential qualities for this role. You’ll be someone who remains calm and approachable under pressure, comfortable handling sensitive casework and confident making fair, well-reasoned decisions in a heavily scrutinised environment.
You’re an excellent communicator who knows how to explain complex decisions clearly and sensitively to residents, colleagues and partner organisations. Highly organised and proactive, you will be confident in managing a demanding workload, balancing competing priorities and taking ownership of complex casework with limited supervision. Above all, you’ll share our commitment to equal opportunities, outstanding customer care and our core values of putting communities first, acting with integrity and working together.
