Job Description

Help ensure residents’ voices shape a better Kennington and Chelsea for everyone

As a Consultation and Insight Officer, you’ll help to ensure residents’ voice is at the heart of decision making in the Council. You’ll design and deliver consultation projects that truly listen to our communities, transforming data into insight and insight into impact. This is your chance to help shape policies and services that make life better for everyone in Kensington and Chelsea.

Working Style:

You’ll be based in the borough for 3 days a week, playing a key role in serving the local community. Whether you’re working on the frontline or behind the scenes, you’ll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference to residents’ lives.

This is a 2 year fixed term contract.

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll take the lead on designing and delivering a wide range of consultation projects, using both quantitative and qualitative methods – from surveys and focus groups to community workshops. Your work will feed directly into Council policy, strategy and service design, ensuring that residents’ views drive real change - all the time ensuring we meet our commitments in our Public Participation Commitments.

A key part of your role will be to promote excellence in consultation and engagement across the Council. You’ll develop and maintain best practice guides, deliver training and coordinate a Consultation Best Practice Group with representatives from every directorate. You’ll help teams across the organisation design effective consultations and interpret the results with confidence and clarity.

You’ll also play a crucial role in translating insight into action. That means turning complex data into clear, engaging reports and presentations that tell a story, inspire decision-makers and influence strategy. You’ll make sure consultation findings are used effectively in service planning, performance monitoring and financial decision-making.

Working in an agile and collaborative way, you’ll support cross-departmental projects and contribute to the delivery of the Council Plan – always keeping residents at the heart of everything we do.

What you’ll bring

You’ll have hands-on experience designing and delivering public consultations that lead to tangible outcomes. You’ll be confident using both quantitative and qualitative methods, from focus groups and interviews to online surveys and data analysis.

Strong analytical and numerical skills are essential, as is the ability to handle and interpret large datasets with accuracy and clarity. You’ll be comfortable presenting your findings to a variety of audiences – from senior leaders to community groups – using plain language and engaging visuals.

You’ll also need excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft applications and online survey tools. More importantly, you’ll be able to collaborate across departments and bring people together around shared goals.

Why join us

At RBKC, we’re all in – investing in our people, our communities and our future.

You’ll join a small, expert team of consultation and engagement professionals who are trusted across the organisation for their insight and impact. We’re proud to put residents at the centre of everything we do – a commitment strengthened by our ongoing response to the Grenfell tragedy.

This is a role where your work will have visible results. You’ll see how the insight you generate helps shape decisions, improve services and strengthen community trust. We’ll support your growth with access to training and development and you’ll work alongside talented, collaborative colleagues who share your passion for inclusion and continuous improvement.

Our People Plan focuses on skills, collaboration and equality – ensuring you have the tools and support to thrive. You’ll work three days a week in the Borough, combining flexibility with the chance to stay connected to the communities you serve.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
