The posting

Overview

As the QA Engineer on the Smart Water pod, you will own quality for a product being scaled into RealPage's standard meter-operations offering, and you will do it by writing test automation rather than clicking through manual passes. You will build automated coverage for the customer-facing Smart Water experience in the Smart Building Portal, the C#/.NET services behind it, and — critically — the accuracy of the meter and usage data flowing through the ingestion pipeline.

Smart Water's history of data-integrity and onboarding defects makes this a high-impact role: you will stand up the automated regression and data-validation suites that keep calculations correct (cost, usage, loss, occupancy), run in CI on every change, and prevent the kinds of issues that have delayed customer go-lives. A core goal of the pod is to move Smart Water off manual, PME-driven QA and onto repeatable automated tests.

This role suits a QA engineer who thinks like a developer — someone who reaches for a script before a manual test case and wants to build the automation foundation for a small, fast-moving pod.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain automated test suites (functional, regression, API, data-validation) as the primary way Smart Water is tested — integrated into the Azure DevOps CI pipeline to run on every change.
  • Write automated UI and API tests across the Angular front end and C#/.NET services, replacing manual, repetitive test passes with scripted coverage.
  • Automate data-integrity checks across the ingestion pipeline — meter reads, usage, cost, loss, and occupancy calculations — so regressions are caught in CI rather than by hand.
  • Encode water-usage anomaly detection scenarios (running toilets, continuous-flow fixtures, abnormal usage) as automated test cases against known data.
  • Automate verification of onboarding and self-service workflows to prevent the data and configuration defects that have historically required PMEs.
  • Partner closely with the pod's developers on quality — reproducing issues, adding regression tests, and confirming fixes.
  • Reserve exploratory/manual testing for genuinely new features, and convert what you learn there into automated coverage.

Qualifications

This is an automation-first QA role on a C#/.NET and Angular product — the goal is scripted, CI-integrated tests, not manual QA.

  • 2+ years in software QA with a strong emphasis on test automation.
  • Proven experience writing and maintaining automated tests (e.g., Selenium/Playwright/Cypress for UI, plus REST API test frameworks) — this is the core of the role.
  • Comfortable writing code/scripts to test software, not just executing manual test cases.
  • Strong SQL skills for automating data validation in MSSQL.
  • Experience integrating automated tests into a CI/CD workflow (Azure DevOps or similar).
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Claude Code or a similar agentic coding harness (required).
  • Demonstrated experience with agentic coding workflows — using AI coding agents as part of day-to-day development (required).

Preferred Skills but not required

  • Experience testing data pipelines / ETL or analytics products where data accuracy is critical.
  • Exposure to IoT, metering, or utility/submetering domains.
  • Experience with ElasticSearch or performance testing.
  • Familiarity with C#/.NET test tooling (xUnit/NUnit).

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
