Finance & Insurance (F&I) Professional

Barber Ford | Holland, Michigan

About Barber Ford

Barber Ford is a family-owned Ford dealership serving Holland and the West Michigan community. We believe long-term success comes from taking care of our customers, supporting our employees, operating with integrity, and building relationships that extend well beyond a single vehicle purchase.

Our F&I team is an important part of that commitment. We expect our F&I professionals to produce strong results while ensuring customers leave Barber Ford feeling informed, respected, and confident in the products and financing decisions they have made.

Position Summary

Barber Ford is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable, and customer-focused Finance & Insurance (F&I) professional to join our team. This position plays an important role in completing the vehicle purchase experience by assisting customers with financing options, protection products, required documentation, and final delivery paperwork.

This position reports to the F&I Manager and works alongside a partner F&I professional. While this role may have a primary focus on New Vehicle F&I, proficiency in both new and pre-owned transactions is required. Our F&I team works collaboratively and provides coverage for one another during scheduled days off, vacations, and other absences.

The ideal candidate can balance strong financial performance with accuracy, compliance, transparency, and an exceptional customer experience. We are looking for someone who communicates clearly, works collaboratively, takes ownership of their responsibilities, and understands that long-term customer relationships are more important than maximizing the profitability of a single transaction.

Our Approach to F&I

Barber Ford prides itself on an exceptionally low rate of post-sale product cancellations. We believe this is a direct result of our commitment to transparency and to offering high-quality products based on each customer's individual needs.

Our goal is not simply to sell a product during the F&I process. We want customers to understand what they are purchasing, recognize its value, and remain confident in their decision after they leave the dealership.

The successful candidate will be expected to uphold this philosophy by presenting products accurately and transparently, identifying products that provide genuine value to the individual customer, and avoiding high-pressure or misleading sales practices.

Barber Ford Core Values

At Barber Ford, our Core Values guide how we conduct business, serve our customers, support one another, and contribute to our community. The F&I professional is expected to understand and demonstrate these values in their daily work.

  • Responsible Financial Success: We believe in responsibility & ethically pursuing our business goals & capitalizing on opportunities to expand our business
  • Giving Back: We believe in sharing our successes with each other & with our community to help grow God's Kingdom
  • Value & Respect: We believe in building lasting relationships with each other & with our customers
  • Personal Growth: We encourage each other to better ourselves by learning from the past & using our earned wisdom to prepare for the future
  • Actively Engaged: We are passionate in our support of each other & in encouraging each other to succeed
  • Positive Thinking: We believe in fostering a positive work atmosphere that attracts employees & customers alike

Schedule

This is a full-time, dealership-based position. The F&I team works collaboratively to provide appropriate coverage throughout the sales week.

  • Monday: 8:30 AM - 8:00 PM
  • Tuesday: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM
  • Wednesday: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM
  • Thursday: 8:30 AM - 8:00 PM
  • Friday: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM
  • Saturday: 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM

Saturday coverage is rotated between F&I team members. The position will also receive a rotating weekday off on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday, based on departmental coverage and scheduling needs.

Flexibility is required to ensure appropriate F&I coverage during vacations, scheduled days off, high-volume periods, and other business needs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Meet with customers to complete the financial and administrative portion of new and pre-owned vehicle purchases.
  • Present financing, leasing, vehicle protection, and other F&I product options clearly, accurately, and professionally, recommending products based on individual customer needs and Barber Ford's commitment to transparent selling.
  • Submit credit applications, obtain approvals, secure competitive financing and leasing options, appropriately structure deals, and work with lenders through contract funding.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of Ford Credit programs, incentives, lease programs, F&I products, lender programs, and applicable manufacturer requirements.
  • Ensure all contracts, disclosures, product agreements, and deal documentation are complete, accurate, properly executed, and reviewed with the customer prior to signing.
  • Maintain compliance with dealership policies and all applicable state and federal requirements, including customer privacy, identity verification, credit reporting, OFAC, and Red Flags requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with the F&I Manager, partner F&I professional, Sales Management, Sales Consultants, Accounting, and administrative teams to ensure an efficient transaction and vehicle delivery process.
  • Assist customers with post-sale questions regarding financing, contracts, cancellations, and F&I products as necessary.
  • Monitor F&I performance, including profitability, product penetration, product cancellations, contract funding, and other departmental goals.
  • Participate in ongoing training and remain current on regulatory, lender, manufacturer, product, and dealership requirements.
  • Provide F&I coverage for both new and pre-owned transactions, including coverage for the partner F&I professional's scheduled days off and absences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by dealership management.

  • Accurate, compliant, and complete deal documentation.
  • Timely contract submission and funding.
  • Compliance with dealership, lender, manufacturer, state, and federal requirements.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, accountability, and ownership throughout the transaction process.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Previous automotive dealership and F&I experience strongly preferred; Ford dealership and/or Ford Credit experience is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully complete both new and pre-owned F&I transactions.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive financing, leasing, lender relationships, F&I products, and dealership deal flow.
  • Excellent communication and customer-service skills, including the ability to explain financial products and contracts clearly and transparently.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management with the ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously.
  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, ethics, and integrity when handling confidential customer and financial information.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a fast-paced, customer-facing dealership environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet dealership employment requirements.

Systems & Technology

Candidates should be comfortable learning and working across multiple dealership, lender, and productivity platforms. Previous experience with the following is preferred:

  • Ford and Ford Credit systems
  • OptionSoft
  • CUDL
  • AutoMate / Tekion
  • Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365 products, particularly Outlook and Excel
  • Electronic contracting platforms, lender portals, dealership management systems, and other automotive retail technology

Prior experience with every system listed above is not required; however, candidates should demonstrate strong technical proficiency and the ability to quickly learn new systems and processes.

Benefits

Barber Ford offers a comprehensive benefits package, including employer contributions toward health insurance, employee-paid dental and vision coverage, and a variety of additional ancillary benefits. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
