The posting

At Reconext, we don’t just bring technology back to life — we rethink its future. Whether it’s network equipment, customer-premises equipment (CPE), servers, or other high-value electronics, our mission is to help customers maximize reuse, reduce waste, and embrace the circular economy.

Due to our rapid growth and the increasing number of new customer, product, and technology projects, we are expanding our engineering team with two Test & Automation Engineers. We are looking for people who see the bigger picture, are curious about new technology, and can turn complex technical challenges into structured, scalable, and testable solutions.

In this role, you will work hands-on with enterprise-grade networking and IT equipment from some of the world’s largest and most recognized technology manufacturers. This means exposure to a wide variety of platforms, architectures, technologies, and product generations — giving you the opportunity to continuously broaden your technical knowledge.

We are also looking firmly toward the future. Automation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are playing an increasingly important role in engineering, software development, test validation, troubleshooting, and process improvement. We are therefore looking for engineers who do not simply follow developments in AI, but actively explore how these technologies can make the way we work smarter, faster, and more reliable.

What this role is about

We are looking for a Test & Automation Engineer with strong technical insight, a hands-on mentality, and an interest in networking, automation, software, and AI.

Your main mission is to develop, implement, and manage test and automation solutions that ensure refurbished network equipment, CPE, servers, and other complex electronic products operate reliably before being redeployed.

What makes this role particularly interesting is the variety. You will regularly encounter different technologies, platforms, hardware generations, operating systems, protocols, and customer requirements. Rather than focusing on a single product or technology stack, you will develop solutions for a broad range of enterprise-class equipment used in some of the world’s most demanding IT and network environments.

You will design and standardize test setups, integrate hardware and software into fully functioning systems, and take technical ownership during new product introductions. You will develop scripts and tools, define integration strategies, and explore how AI-assisted engineering can contribute to more efficient software development, better fault analysis, and smarter test and validation processes.

AI can, for example, support code development and review, generate and optimize test scripts, analyze test results, identify patterns in faults and logs, and improve technical documentation. At the same time, you remain responsible as an engineer for technically reviewing, testing, and validating generated solutions and results.

This is a role with real technical ownership. You are not simply executing predefined tests: you help determine how products should be tested, how processes can be automated, and how technical challenges can be solved at scale.

Whether you are developing a new test architecture, writing code, analyzing network behavior, interpreting test data, or solving a complex system issue, you are someone who not only fixes problems but also looks for ways to prevent them structurally.

You will work closely with engineers, technicians, and OEM partners across our global network and become part of a team that continuously improves and automates test, configuration, analysis, and documentation processes.

What you will do

· Develop, implement, and maintain test setups for complex systems, primarily enterprise networking, IT infrastructure, and CPE equipment

· Work hands-on with technology originating from leading global manufacturers in networking, computing, and enterprise IT

· Build technical knowledge across a broad range of platforms, product generations, architectures, and technologies

· Design scalable and reusable test and automation solutions

· Define integration strategies for hardware, software, and subsystems

· Develop and maintain scripts and software for test automation, configuration, diagnostics, and data analysis

· Analyze customer products and determine suitable test, diagnostic, and validation methods

· Develop and execute test cases and validations to demonstrate functionality, reliability, and quality

· Explore how AI and AI-assisted development can be applied to coding, code review, test development, test optimization, log analysis, and troubleshooting

· Use AI tools to generate test scenarios, analyze log files and test data, identify patterns, and detect possible root causes more quickly

· Critically assess and technically validate AI-assisted or AI-generated code, analyses, and test results before they are used in production processes

· Automate repetitive engineering and validation activities where this improves quality, speed, or scalability

· Contribute to new product, customer, and process introductions

· Investigate and resolve complex issues during system integration, testing, and validation

· Document procedures, work instructions, software, test configurations, and technical decisions

· Use AI to support technical documentation and knowledge retention, with a strong focus on accuracy, traceability, and technical validation

· Collaborate internationally with colleagues, customers, technical specialists, and OEM engineering teams

· Stay up to date with developments and best practices in networking, system integration, software development, test automation, data analysis, and AI

· Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of tools, processes, documentation, quality, and scalability

What you bring

You are a good fit if you:

  • Have completed a technical degree at Bachelor’s level or equivalent, preferably in IT, electronics, embedded systems, industrial automation, or a related field
  • Have at least 2 years of experience with automation, test setups, system integration, software development, or network management
  • Have knowledge of system integration, diagnostic methods, and test development
  • Have experience with one or more programming or scripting languages, such as Python, C#, Bash, or similar
  • Have an interest in AI, generative AI, and AI-assisted development and are curious about practical applications within engineering
  • Understand that AI is a powerful tool, but that generated code, analyses, and test results must always be technically reviewed and validated
  • Can work in a structured way with test cases, test results, logging, and technical data
  • Can interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and product specifications
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Can independently investigate technical challenges while also working effectively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Have strong communication skills in English, and preferably also in Dutch
  • Work accurately and value good documentation, knowledge sharing, and process improvement

Experience with AI tools, API integrations, CI/CD, Git, automated testing, data analysis, or modern software development tooling is a plus — but curiosity and the willingness to learn and apply these technologies responsibly are just as important to us.Why work at Reconext?

At Reconext, you become part of a global mission to reduce e-waste, extend the life of technology, and create smarter product lifecycles.

At the same time, you will be joining a technical environment that is evolving rapidly. Our business is growing, our customer opportunities are increasing, and the technical challenges we work on are becoming broader and more sophisticated. That creates opportunities not only for the company, but also for the engineers joining us.

Why Reconext?

What you can expect:

  • A rapidly growing engineering environment where we are currently adding two new Test & Automation Engineers
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise-grade technology from leading global technology manufacturers
  • Exposure to a broad variety of networking, computing, server, and connected-device technologies
  • The opportunity to work across hardware, software, networking, automation, testing, data, and AI
  • Real technical ownership rather than simply executing predefined procedures
  • The freedom to develop smarter, more scalable ways of testing and validating products
  • Opportunities to create tools and solutions that can be deployed beyond a single product, customer, or location
  • Direct involvement in new customer, product, and technology introductions
  • International collaboration with engineers, customers, and technical partners
  • A working environment where curiosity, experimentation, and continuous improvement are encouraged
  • The opportunity to develop both broad technical knowledge and deeper expertise in the areas that interest you most
  • Work that combines technology and innovation with a clear sustainability impact

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
