About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Harm Reduction Lead to join our team at New Vision Bradford.

This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in shaping and developing our harm reduction offer, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based approaches are embedded across the wider service.

As Harm Reduction Lead, you'll develop and lead our strategic Harm Reduction plan, working across key areas including Naloxone provision, Needle Syringe Programmes (NSP), Blood Borne Virus (BBV) testing and treatment, Hepatitis C provision and drug-related death prevention.

You'll also take a lead role in planning, coordinating and delivering district-wide harm reduction campaigns, working with colleagues and partners to respond to local needs, emerging trends and key public health priorities across Bradford.

You'll work closely with our clinical and operational teams, partner agencies, commissioners and other key stakeholders, using local, regional and national evidence to identify emerging trends and continually improve our approach.

This is an influential role where you'll combine your specialist harm reduction knowledge with partnership working, service development and strategic thinking to help reduce substance-related harm across Bradford.

What You’ll Do;

  • Develop and lead a strategic Harm Reduction plan across New Vision Bradford.
  • Plan, coordinate and lead district-wide harm reduction campaigns, working collaboratively with internal teams, partner agencies and other key stakeholders.
  • Use local intelligence and emerging trends to develop targeted harm reduction campaigns that respond to the needs of communities across Bradford.
  • Lead key harm reduction workstreams including Naloxone provision, Needle Syringe Programmes, BBV testing and treatment and drug-related death prevention.
  • Help ensure people accessing our services can access appropriate BBV testing, immunisation, community and pharmacy needle syringe provision and Naloxone.
  • Develop and lead the delivery of Peer-to-Peer Naloxone.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical and operational teams to embed harm reduction throughout wider service delivery.
  • Build strong relationships with partner agencies, commissioners and other key stakeholders.
  • Use local, regional and national data to identify trends, understand emerging needs and inform future service delivery.
  • Provide specialist harm reduction advice, information and guidance to colleagues and partners.
  • Attend and contribute to relevant strategic meetings, forums and harm reduction networks.
  • Keep up to date with emerging evidence, best practice, policy and legislative developments relating to harm reduction.
  • Support the development and delivery of harm reduction training for colleagues and people accessing our services.
  • Promote effective safeguarding and help identify and reduce potential harm to individuals and the wider community.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports and contribute to the ongoing development and quality of the service.

To Succeed in This Role, You’ll Need:

  • An NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards this qualification in post.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of harm reduction approaches and interventions.
  • The ability to deliver evidence-based interventions, including brief interventions, motivational interviewing and psychosocial approaches.
  • Experience of delivering one-to-one and group interventions and harm reduction training.
  • The confidence to plan and coordinate harm reduction initiatives across multiple teams, services and partner organisations.
  • The confidence to work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to analyse information and use data to help shape campaigns and improve service delivery.
  • A good understanding of substance use and the challenges experienced by people accessing drug and alcohol services.
  • Experience of working with carers and families.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office.
  • A compassionate, non-judgemental and person-centred approach.

It would also be advantageous if you have:

  • A relevant professional qualification in areas such as addiction studies, counselling, social work or a therapeutic discipline.
  • Experience of harm reduction planning within drug and alcohol services.
  • Experience of assessment, recovery planning and risk management.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and Hidden Harm.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
