The posting

Would you like to lead a talented engineering team developing some of the most advanced underwater technology in aquaculture? Then we would love to hear from you.

We are now moving from advanced product development towards industrialization and commercial scaling, and are looking for an experienced, hands-on engineering leader to strengthen our team.

At Biosort, innovation is at the heart of what we do. We continuously challenge existing solutions and push technological boundaries to advance aquaculture. Our cutting-edge underwater technology combines machine vision, optics, electronics, robotics and software to combat sea lice in salmon farming. Our technology enables continuous, targeted treatment of individual fish to improve fish welfare, reduce the need for conventional lice treatments and make aquaculture more sustainable.

The role

You will lead a team of seven in Norway, consisting of three mechanical engineers and four engineers and technicians working with prototype building, testing, verification and hardware integration. You will also work closely with our engineering teams in India on product development and industrialization.

This is a role for someone who enjoys both developing people and solving challenging engineering problems. You will combine technical leadership with hands-on involvement in developing new solutions, continuously improving existing designs and bringing complex electromechanical products into reliable, scalable production.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Lead, mentor and develop a multidisciplinary team of mechanical engineers, test engineers and technicians, fostering technical excellence, accountability and professional growth.
  • Define engineering priorities, allocate resources, manage project schedules and ensure timely delivery of engineering milestones.
  • Build and strengthen engineering capabilities, processes and infrastructure to support rapid product development, prototyping, testing and hardware integration.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering teams across Norway and Asia, ensuring effective collaboration on product development, design verification, DFx, product realisation and industrialisation.

Technical Engineering and Hardware Integration

  • Actively contribute to mechanical design and development, engineering analysis, design reviews, technical decision-making and complex problem-solving.
  • Lead hands-on prototype development, system integration and troubleshooting of multidisciplinary hardware systems.
  • Plan, execute and oversee design verification, validation, reliability testing and engineering investigations to ensure product performance, robustness and quality.
  • Collaborate with electronics, optics, embedded software and computer vision teams to resolve integration challenges, optimise system performance and drive rapid prototyping and continuous technical improvement.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is passionate about engineering and enjoys developing people. You thrive on solving technical challenges and working closely with engineers, while being comfortable making decisions and taking ownership. You have a practical, collaborative and results-oriented approach, and value simplicity, speed, quality and continuous learning.

Key skills and experience:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience, including technical leadership or team management.
  • Strong hands-on experience in mechanical design, product development and system integration.
  • Experience with CAD, prototyping, testing and engineering validation.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, tolerances and reliability.
  • Experience developing complex electromechanical products.
  • Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Project management experience is an advantage.
  • Experience in marine technology, robotics or industrial automation is an advantage.

What can we offer?

At Biosort, you will work on genuinely complex engineering challenges using advanced technology across several disciplines. You will join an experienced team that has spent years developing sophisticated underwater systems, and you will have the opportunity to influence how these products are engineered, integrated and brought into commercial production.

This is not a role where everything is already established and for the right person, that is exactly what makes the opportunity exciting. You will play an integral role in shaping the next stage of Biosort's development, combining meaningful environmental impact with state-of-the-art engineering.

Biosort offers competitive salary, benefit-package, share-options and modern offices with parking at Technopolice at Fornebu.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
