The posting

Director of Product Management

Who are we?

We’re a product company building the underlying platform for a new model of AI-native education—beginning with our first application: an AI-native university in the UK.

We believe AI gives us the opportunity—and obligation—to rethink some of the basic architecture of education: what people should learn, how teaching works, what assessment means when AI is ubiquitous, how learning adapts to an individual, and where humans matter most.

We’re an early-stage team building our way toward the answers. We form hypotheses, make things, test them, learn, and sometimes tear them down and start again.

We are looking for a Director of Product Management to help turn those ideas into a product that actually works.

Who are you?

You are an experienced product manager who likes complicated, slightly unruly problems.

You know the craft of product management deeply: how to turn strategy into a roadmap, define and sequence work, make tradeoffs, manage dependencies, run discovery, write clearly, and keep a cross-functional team moving without burying it in process.

But you’ve also evolved that craft for AI.

You understand that building AI products is not the same as building traditional software. Prompts, models, context, evaluations, agent behavior, traces, failure analysis, human review, and ongoing tuning are part of the development lifecycle—not implementation details that come after the product work is done.

You are technical enough to get your hands dirty. You use tools like Codex and Claude Code to prototype, investigate, automate workflows, and make yourself and the team faster. You instinctively notice repetitive work and ask whether it should exist at all.

You also understand that, here, learning is product and product is learning. You don’t need to be the learning expert, but you need to engage seriously with questions about teaching, assessment, evidence, learner state, and human development rather than treating them as requirements handed to you by someone else.

You like hard, underspecified problems. You can make a call with incomplete information, test it, and change direction when reality disagrees.

What will you do?

As Director of Product Management, you will turn product strategy into a detailed, executable roadmap and drive the day-to-day work required to build, test, and improve the product.

You will report to the Chief Product Officer and partner closely with Learning, Engineering, Experience Design, and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product roadmap. Translate product strategy into a detailed, living roadmap; manage sequencing, dependencies, scope, risks, and tradeoffs; and keep the team clear on what we are building, why, and what comes next.
  • Drive product definition and delivery. Turn ambiguous ideas into clear problems, briefs, requirements, prototypes, and product increments, then stay close through build, launch, iteration, and operational reality.
  • Own testing and product learning. Define what we need to learn, design and run tests with support from Learning, Engineering, research, and others, and ensure evidence from synthetic evaluation, real learners, product data, and qualitative research feeds directly into product decisions.
  • Product manage the AI development lifecycle. Work with Engineering and Learning across prompts, agents, models, context, evaluations, traces, failure modes, human review, and tuning—not just traditional feature requirements and QA.
  • Prototype, automate, and streamline. Use AI development tools, lightweight code, and automation to investigate ideas, remove repetitive work, improve internal workflows, and answer questions before asking Engineering to build the full thing.
  • Hold the integrated product together. Surface unresolved decisions early and manage the connections across learner experience, learning architecture, AI behavior, data, engineering, human participation, and operations so we build one coherent system.
  • Build a strong product-management practice. Establish lightweight approaches to planning, prioritization, documentation, decision-making, measurement, and communication that create rigor without creating bureaucracy.

What we’re looking for

This is a senior, hands-on role. We expect you to bring substantial product-management experience and enough depth in the craft to establish and run strong product practices in an early-stage company. We care more about what you have actually built and how you operate than about a particular degree, title, or number of years.

  • Deep product-management craft. You have personally managed roadmaps, prioritization, discovery, requirements, delivery, tradeoffs, stakeholder communication, and product decisions—not simply contributed to them.
  • Experience building AI products. You have product-managed through an AI development lifecycle and understand the practical realities of prompts, agents, models, evaluations, context, traces, probabilistic behavior, and iteration.
  • A builder’s orientation. You use tools like Codex, Claude Code, APIs, automation platforms, or lightweight development environments to prototype, investigate, streamline workflows, and make working things.
  • Strong judgment about testing and evidence. You can design useful product tests, distinguish a promising demo from evidence that something works, and know what different methods—synthetic evaluation, qualitative research, behavioral data, and real-learner testing—can and cannot tell you.
  • Systems thinking. You naturally see dependencies and second-order effects across experience, technology, learning, data, policy, and operations.
  • Exceptional resourcefulness and judgment. You can create clarity without waiting for perfect information, push back constructively, make pragmatic scope calls, and happily light yesterday’s great product idea on fire when you find a better one.

How to apply

We’d like to see more than a résumé.

Give us a sense of how you think, make, test, and learn. Show us something you’ve built, a product system you’ve shaped, a workflow you automated, a messy experiment, or an idea that changed dramatically once it met reality—whatever best helps us understand how you operate.

Don’t treat that as a checklist. We’re much more interested in genuine evidence of your judgment, curiosity, and builder instinct than in a polished application package.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
