The posting

Our client is an established financial services organization providing investment solutions and technology-enabled services to institutional and retirement markets. The company operates in a complex, data-driven environment, working with financial institutions and industry partners to improve investment accessibility, streamline operations, and enhance the client experience. They are seeking a Director of Product to lead product strategy, data capabilities, and platform development for a key area of the business. This position combines strategic leadership with hands-on product execution, overseeing a team of Product Managers while driving initiatives that improve data quality, strengthen integrations, and deliver measurable business value. The ideal candidate brings experience building data-intensive products, developing external partnerships, and translating complex business needs into scalable technology solutions.

What You Will Do:

  • Own product strategy, roadmap development, and prioritization for a critical area of the platform, aligning product investments with stakeholder needs and broader business objectives.
  • Lead complex product initiatives from concept through execution, developing requirements, shaping data and integration solutions, and collaborating directly with engineering, data, and design teams.
  • Manage and develop a team of Product Managers, establishing performance expectations, supporting professional growth, and driving accountability for product delivery and outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with external partners, identifying opportunities to improve data access, expand integrations, and develop solutions that deliver long-term value.
  • Partner with senior leadership and external stakeholders to communicate product strategy, evaluate opportunities, and align priorities across business and technical teams.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of data sources, information flows, and operational processes to identify inefficiencies, integration challenges, and opportunities for product improvement.
  • Establish and monitor product performance metrics, using data to evaluate results, inform prioritization, and connect product initiatives to measurable business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other product leaders to identify opportunities for shared data standards, improved infrastructure, and scalable capabilities across the broader technology platform.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree and 8 to 12 years of product management experience, including at least 3 to 5 years managing Product Managers or leading a product function.
  • Experience in fintech, wealth management technology, financial services, or data-intensive B2B SaaS environments preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance people leadership with hands-on product execution, including developing product specifications, shaping technical solutions, and driving strategic initiatives.
  • Proven experience establishing external partnerships that improve product capabilities, strengthen data connectivity, and support long-term business objectives.
  • Strong understanding of API architecture, data systems, and integration patterns, with the ability to evaluate technical tradeoffs and collaborate effectively with engineering teams.
  • Experience developing metrics-driven product practices, defining success measures, and using performance data to guide product strategy and investment decisions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage technical teams, business leaders, and external executives.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, make informed decisions with incomplete information, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Entrepreneurial approach to problem-solving, with experience introducing best practices, improving processes, and delivering measurable results.
  • Familiarity with investment technology, retirement solutions, or wealth management platforms is a plus.
  • Ability to work onsite in Boston, MA, four days per week.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
