Position Summary

The Film and Media Production (FMP) program, at Queensborough Community College, is seeking a part-time Career and Technical Education (CTE) Program Coordinator to serve as the program's dedicated infrastructure builder for industry partnerships, work-based learning, and assisting with outcomes tracking.

Industry Partnership & Work-Based Learning

  • Identify, cultivate, and formalize partnerships with media industry organizations and employers to create internships, mentorships, workshops, and direct employment pathways.
  • Coordinate internship placements and establish formal agreements for qualifying school-based and industry projects.
  • Organize site visits, guest speaker programming, and industry seminars to connect students with working professionals.

Student Support & Retention

  • Serve as a consistent point of contact and mentorship bridge for all FMP students, with particular attention to special populations (English learners, foster youth, students with disabilities, and other underrepresented students) who may lack existing professional networks in the media industry.
  • Help launch and coordinate the FMP First Year Seminar, a required orientation experience designed to improve retention and program navigation for incoming majors.
  • Coordinate targeted equity interventions and outreach to ensure equitable access to internships, mentorship, and career opportunities.
  • Support technical workshops (software and hardware) that build industry-standard competencies aligned with employer expectations.

Outcomes Tracking & Compliance

  • Assist with designing and implementing a centralized system for collecting post-graduation outcome data, including employment and continuing education status.
  • Conduct proactive alumni outreach to capture accurate, up-to-date placement and enrollment data, particularly for graduates in freelance or gig-based roles.
  • Assist in preparing and supporting compliance reporting related to Perkins V indicators, including 1P1 (Postsecondary Retention and Placement) and 3P1.
  • Maintain accurate records of industry partnerships, internship placements, and work-based learning activities for state and federal reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Film, Media Production, Communications, Career and Technical Education, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience or strong familiarity with the film, television, or digital media industry, including its freelance/gig-based employment structures.
  • Experience building or managing partnerships with external organizations or employers.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience with data collection, tracking, and reporting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to mentor students from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred:

  • Existing professional network within the NYC film and media industry.
  • Familiarity with Perkins V compliance requirements and CTE reporting indicators (e.g., 1P1, 3P1).
  • Experience supporting special population students (English learners, foster youth, students with disabilities).

Work Schedule

Part-time; Schedule to be arranged in coordination with the Department Chair, with flexibility needed to accommodate occasional evening or weekend industry events, site visits, and guest speaker sessions.

Pay Range:

$28.75 to $28.75 per hour

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
