Buyer, Project Pricing - Remote Position

Description:

Our mission is to help customers save time and money when purchasing commercial kitchen equipment and supplies by providing a customer-centric shopping experience and by leveraging our industry buying power.

We are seeking a Buyer to support our Deal Desk by working directly with manufacturers and their representatives to secure competitive pricing for active sales opportunities. The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator with purchasing experience, strong negotiation skills, and consistent follow-through.

Skills and Requirements:

  • 2+ years of buying, purchasing, or project-pricing experience at a commercial foodservice equipment and supplies dealer or distributor
  • Required hands-on experience negotiating manufacturer discounts, requesting special project pricing, and securing specification credits in a previous role
  • Demonstrated results obtaining manufacturer support beyond standard dealer pricing, with the ability to discuss specific examples of prior negotiations and outcomes
  • Working knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment categories, major manufacturers, and manufacturer representative networks
  • Practical understanding of specification-credit eligibility, project-registration requirements, approval processes, and supporting documentation
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with confidence contacting manufacturers and their representatives by phone and email
  • Ability to present project details, competitive circumstances, and purchasing timelines clearly to support pricing requests
  • Understanding of dealer costs, gross margins, and how discounts and credits affect profitability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, with experience using purchasing, quoting, ERP, or CRM systems
  • Exceptional organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and follow-up deadlines
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining responsive communication and accountability for results

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Review assigned sales opportunities with the Deal Desk Manager and sales representatives to identify opportunities for additional manufacturer pricing support
  • Gather equipment specifications, quantities, project details, purchasing timelines, and other information needed to prepare complete pricing requests
  • Proactively contact manufacturers and their representatives to present opportunities and negotiate project-specific discounts, special pricing, and eligible specification credits
  • Identify applicable manufacturer programs and complete required project registrations and credit requests within established deadlines
  • Negotiate pricing within company guidelines and escalate complex negotiations or exceptions to the Deal Desk Manager
  • Build and maintain productive manufacturer relationships through accurate information, professional communication, and consistent follow-through
  • Track open requests and follow up promptly to meet customer quotation deadlines
  • Document approved pricing, credit amounts, eligibility requirements, expiration dates, and supporting correspondence
  • Communicate manufacturer approvals and conditions to sales and purchasing so they are accurately reflected in quotes and orders
  • Coordinate with purchasing and accounting to verify that negotiated discounts are applied and approved credits are submitted and received
  • Maintain accurate opportunity records and report on pricing improvements, credits realized, outstanding requests, and turnaround times
  • Stay informed about manufacturer pricing programs and recommend improvements to the pricing-request and credit-tracking process

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
