The posting

Own the design of RFDS WA's workforce planning framework. You'll shape it and lead it, not inherit someone else's. Help Australia's largest aeromedical service get the right doctors, nurses and pilots to the right base at the right time. Lead a small specialist team with plans to grow, and guide the Air Maestro rollout as rostering moves into one unified, planned model. Full-time, permanent role at Jandakot with flexible hybrid working, free onsite parking and not-for-profit salary packaging.

About the team Every aeromedical retrieval depends on a crew being available, rested and trained before the call comes in. Across the largest health jurisdiction in Australia, that takes planning months ahead, not juggling on the day. Reporting to the General Manager, Operations & Performance, you'll lead a small Workforce Planning & Rostering Team that's set to grow. You'll work closely with our Heads of Medical, Nursing and Flying Operations, Talent Acquisition and Data & Analytics to turn workforce data into decisions that keep our services running. Operations & Performance and People & Culture have already laid the groundwork, including a review of aeromedical FTE, so you'll start with a clear baseline and strong support behind you. About the role

Design and implement the RFDS WA Workforce Planning Framework. That means forecasting supply against budgeted FTE at each base and anticipating attrition, leave and training impacts, so we can meet contract obligations, including WACHS Minimum Service Capability. Lead the end-to-end roster cycle across our aeromedical workforces, from drafting through unification to release, in partnership with the operational leaders who approve final rosters. Build and grow your team, develop its planning capability, act as the rostering subject matter expert for Air Maestro, and create tools and processes that outlast your involvement.

About you

Proven experience leading a team, ideally in workforce planning or rostering, in a complex multi-site or multi-workforce operation, with the credibility to influence senior leaders across the business. A strong track record in strategic or operational workforce planning, ideally in aviation, health or another safety-critical 24/7 environment. Advanced analytical and modelling skills in Excel, and ideally Power BI. You can turn a forecast into a clear recommendation on recruitment, rostering or escalation. Practical knowledge of rostering under Enterprise Agreements, including leave, fatigue and training constraints.

About usThe Royal Flying Doctor Service WA (RFDS WA) supports more than 20,000 patients each year across the largest health jurisdiction in Australia. From bases in Perth, Broome, Port Hedland, Kalgoorlie and Meekatharra, our dedicated teams deliver emergency care, primary health and industrial services through world-class aviation, clinical and support systems. Our strategy focuses on workforce capability, safety leadership and expanding access to care for those who need it most. Apply nowSubmit a resume and a brief cover letter outlining your experience and suitability for the role. This position is open to applicants with relevant rights to work in Australia. Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis, with interviews scheduled accordingly. Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
