The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Investment Administrator to join an established investment and wealth management team in Norwich.

Working closely with experienced Investment Managers, you will provide high-quality administrative and operational support across a portfolio of private clients. This is a varied role offering exposure to investment administration, portfolio management, client service and financial markets.

You will play an important role in ensuring client portfolios are administered accurately and efficiently, while maintaining a high standard of service and working within the relevant regulatory and compliance framework.

The role would suit either an experienced financial services professional looking to progress their career within investment management, or a recent graduate with a relevant degree looking to establish a career within the sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to Investment Managers across a range of client activities.
  • Assist with more complex administrative tasks, including preparing correspondence, maintaining client records, producing file notes and coordinating client meetings.
  • Provide a high standard of service to clients, ensuring requests and administrative matters are dealt with accurately and within appropriate timescales.
  • Support the administration of new and existing client accounts, including account opening and closure processes.
  • Assist with the transfer of investments and stock between accounts.
  • Process client payments and other portfolio-related transactions.
  • Maintain accurate client and investment information within the relevant portfolio management system.
  • Update and maintain static client and account data.
  • Produce reports and analysis using data held within internal systems, including Excel-based reporting.
  • Assist Investment Managers with the processing and administration of investment trades, ensuring instructions are accurately executed and recorded.
  • Where appropriate, take and process client instructions relating to non-complex investment transactions within an execution-only service.
  • Support the preparation and organisation of client meetings, presentations and new business pitches.
  • Assist with the preparation of relevant client documentation and meeting materials.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider investment and operations teams.
  • Provide support on team projects and wider business initiatives when required.
  • Contribute to initiatives designed to improve processes, efficiency and client service.
  • Identify opportunities to improve working practices and share knowledge and best practice with colleagues.
  • Maintain and develop knowledge of investment markets, financial services and the wider wealth management industry.
  • Complete relevant technical training and professional development as required.
  • Undertake any other duties reasonably associated with the role.

About You

The role is open to both experienced candidates and graduates who are looking to build a long-term career within investment management.

For an experienced candidate, this could be an excellent opportunity for someone currently working within investment administration, wealth management, financial planning or financial services who is looking to develop their technical knowledge and gain greater exposure to investment management.

For a graduate, this represents an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience within an established investment environment, working alongside experienced Investment Managers and developing knowledge of investment markets, portfolio administration and client service.

You will be highly organised, commercially aware and keen to develop your technical knowledge. Most importantly, you will demonstrate strong attention to detail, a proactive attitude, excellent communication skills and a genuine interest in building a career within financial services.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Previous experience within investment management, wealth management, financial planning or financial services is advantageous.
  • Recent graduates with a relevant degree and a genuine interest in investment management will also be considered.
  • Relevant degree subjects could include Finance, Economics, Business, Investment Management or other related disciplines.
  • A strong academic background and willingness to learn and develop within the investment sector.
  • Experience within an administrative or client-focused environment would be beneficial but is not essential for the right graduate candidate.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using investment/portfolio management systems would be advantageous for experienced candidates.
  • A Level 3 CISI qualification or equivalent is desirable, although not essential.
  • Candidates without the relevant qualification will be considered where they can demonstrate a genuine commitment to professional development and working towards relevant industry qualifications.
  • An interest in pursuing relevant professional qualifications within investment and financial services.

Key Skills & Attributes

Whether you are an experienced financial services professional or a graduate starting your career, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A professional and client-focused approach.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to learn new systems, processes and technical information quickly.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a wider team.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership of tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively to deadlines.
  • Professionalism when dealing with confidential and sensitive client information.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
