  • Build trusted relationships with leaders, risk and control owners and local subject matter experts while maintaining the objectivity required of a second line function.
  • Monitor changes in the local operating and regulatory environment and translate them into clear risk implications and actions.

Programme implementation and first-line capability

  • Support implementation of The Way We Work, the E&C Group Standard, supporting procedures and approved systems.
  • Help first-line teams identify applicable risks, appoint accountable owners, implement proportionate controls and retain complete, accurate evidence.
  • Develop targeted guidance, briefings and learning that strengthen business capability without displacing first-line accountability.

Monitoring and assurance

  • Execute risk based second line monitoring and assurance across priority risks, controls and locations.
  • Support Material Risk Reviews, bowtie or health checks, Business Integrity risk assessments and other control effectiveness reviews.
  • Document evidence based findings, agree actions with accountable leaders and follow remediation through to sustainable closure.

Response, remediation and insight

  • Support triage, investigations and incident response where local knowledge or subject matter input is required, preserving confidentiality and appropriate legal privilege.
  • Analyse incidents, assurance findings and recurring issues to identify root causes, emerging risks and opportunities to improve controls, processes and learning.
  • Prepare concise risk insights and recommendations for Commercial and Group Services governance forums.

Collaboration and improvement

  • Work across central Areas of Expertise, Legal, Risk & Insurance, Group Internal Audit, People, Commercial and operational teams to coordinate advice and assurance.
  • Contribute to global simplification, technology enablement, data quality and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Share practice and support consistent application of the E&C framework across the team.

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • A commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and your colleagues, and conduct aligned with Rio Tinto’s values.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in compliance, risk, law, finance, audit, business or a related discipline; relevant professional accreditation is desirable.
  • Strong experience in Ethics & Compliance, regulatory risk, assurance, investigations, legal risk or a related field within a complex organisation.
  • Five years practical experience and working knowledge of business integrity risks and controls, including anti-bribery and corruption, third-party risk, conflicts, benefits, fraud, sanctions and speak-up processes.
  • Experience assessing control design and operating effectiveness and preparing clear findings and remediation actions.
  • Sound judgement, personal integrity and the confidence to provide constructive challenge on sensitive issues.
  • Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, analytical and written communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently across multiple priorities, locations and time zones.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
