The posting

We are seeking an experienced Frontend Developer with strong React, React Router, and Shopify Hydrogen experience to help maintain and improve our existing headless ecommerce storefront and potentially support future migrations of additional ecommerce sites to Shopify/Hydrogen. This is primarily a frontend role. Our internal team handles much of the backend product and catalog data work, but this developer should understand the broader Shopify ecosystem and be comfortable troubleshooting issues involving Shopify APIs, third-party integrations, search, CMS, analytics, and customer-facing functionality. Strong UI/UX judgment is also important. We are not looking for a dedicated designer, but we need someone who can take business requirements and rough mockups, identify usability or technical limitations, recommend practical alternatives, and translate them into polished ecommerce experiences.

📌 Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve custom Shopify Hydrogen storefront using React and React Router
  • Build responsive, accessible interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Work with Shopify's Storefront API, GraphQL, collections, products, variants, metafields, and other Shopify data
  • Translate business requirements and rough mockups into intuitive, functional ecommerce experiences
  • Evaluate proposed features for technical feasibility and recommend alternatives when API or platform limitations exist
  • Troubleshoot issues across the storefront, Shopify data/APIs, browser behavior, and third-party integrations
  • Work with Storyblok headless CMS and Algolia search and recommendation functionality
  • Implement and troubleshoot ecommerce analytics and marketing integrations
  • Support ecommerce SEO requirements including redirects, canonical tags, structured data, breadcrumbs, metadata, and indexability
  • Improve frontend performance, usability, and maintainability
  • Communicate technical constraints, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly to technical and nontechnical team members
  • Work effectively within and improve an existing custom codebase

📌 Required Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and React Router
  • Professional experience with Shopify Hydrogen and headless commerce
  • Experience with Shopify APIs and GraphQL
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Good UI/UX judgment and experience translating designs or wireframes into functional interfaces
  • Ability to evaluate technical feasibility and recommend practical solutions
  • Experience working with APIs and third-party integrations
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects and problems

📌 Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Shopify theme architecture and customization
  • Experience with Storyblok or another headless CMS
  • Experience with Algolia in React or headless ecommerce environments
  • Experience with ecommerce analytics and event tracking, including GA4
  • Experience with Klaviyo or similar marketing integrations in a headless environment
  • Experience with ecommerce SEO and site migrations
  • Experience migrating established ecommerce sites from custom platforms to Shopify/Hydrogen
  • Experience with performance optimization, Git, testing, and deployment workflows

📌 Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a pragmatic, solution-oriented frontend developer who combines strong technical skills with good UI/UX judgment. They should be comfortable working in a customized ecommerce environment, identifying problems beyond the immediate frontend task, and collaborating with both technical and non-technical team members. We value someone who can not only build what is requested, but also recognize when a proposed approach may create usability or technical problems and recommend a better solution.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
