  • Build long-term relationships that generate repeat and expanded business.
  • Develop and execute targeted business development plans for priority clients, markets and sectors.
  • Track opportunities and provide regular updates on pipeline development and conversion.

Client & Market Development

  • Build trusted relationships with developers, architects, engineers, contractors, infrastructure organisations and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Understand clients’ businesses, upcoming projects, priorities and challenges.
  • Identify where client needs align with RWDI’s expertise and introduce the appropriate technical specialists.
  • Gather market intelligence on clients, competitors, projects and emerging opportunities.
  • Help expand RWDI’s presence across priority sectors, including, but not limited to, infrastructure, aviation, rail, roads and bridges, buildings and industry.

Networking & Marketing

  • Actively build and maintain a strong professional network.
  • Represent RWDI at conferences, industry forums, networking events and client functions.
  • Support marketing initiatives that increase RWDI’s visibility within target markets.
  • Build awareness of RWDI’s capabilities with existing and prospective clients.
  • Identify opportunities for thought leadership, industry engagement and targeted client outreach.

  • Work closely with technical and regional leaders to develop compelling client solutions.
  • Support proposal strategy, positioning, presentations and commercial discussions.
  • Ensure clear continuity between early client conversations, proposals and project delivery.
  • Promote collaboration across RWDI disciplines and offices to bring the best expertise to clients.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

We are looking for someone who combines commercial drive, strong industry relationships and enough technical understanding to engage credibly with clients.

You will ideally bring:

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, client acquisition or market development within engineering, infrastructure, construction, architecture, environmental consulting or the broader built-environment sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify prospects, establish new relationships and convert opportunities into business.
  • A strong network within relevant industries would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience within infrastructure sectors such as aviation, rail, roads and bridges would be particularly valuable.
  • Confidence approaching and engaging senior client decision-makers.
  • Strong networking skills and enthusiasm for developing new professional relationships.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of professional consulting services.
  • Sufficient technical understanding to recognise client needs and bring the appropriate specialists into conversations.
  • Experience contributing to proposals, pitches, presentations and opportunity strategies.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • A proactive, self-directed and results-focused approach.
  • Persistence, strong follow-through and personal accountability.
  • The ability to collaborate across disciplines, locations and cultures.
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline would be advantageous, although equivalent relevant industry and commercial experience will be considered.

Job Benefits

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys opening doors and developing markets, but wants to do so by representing sophisticated engineering and consulting expertise rather than selling a standard product.

You will work alongside RWDI's regional leaders, technical specialists and regional project delivery teams to turn client challenges into opportunities for meaningful collaboration.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
