Requirements: Non-smoker, valid driver’s license with reliable transportation (mileage reimbursed for errands), up-to-date vaccinations (COVID & Flu), able to pass a background check

About Us

We are a busy family of three living centrally in Edmonton (T6G 1A4), near the university and across the river from downtown. We have one daughter (age 9) and a senior cat (16 years old) who requires regular vet visits every 3 months. Both parents are physicians with demanding work hours. We love our neighborhood, which is walkable and close to our daughter’s school and before/after school care program. Without extended family nearby, we are looking for a reliable and proactive House Manager to provide household support and help our home run smoothly.

Schedule

  • Preferred availability: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 12–5 pm
  • 2–3 days per week, approx. 15 hours/week, not Thursdays
  • Flexibility for occasional evenings (childcare for date nights or hockey games) valued

Key Responsibilities

Household Management & Organization

  • Maintain organization systems across the home (closets, storage, pantry, mudroom, garage).
  • Reset and tidy main rooms daily; prep the home for weekly cleaning service.
  • Manage seasonal transitions: clothing swaps, holiday décor, guest prep.
  • Track and rotate items in kitchen and pantry (dispose of expired goods).
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs/pickups.
  • Support packing/unpacking for family travel.

Inventory Management & Errands

  • Track household supplies (pantry, fridge, toiletries).
  • Shop for groceries (prioritizing fresh produce, gluten-free essentials for celiac dietary needs).
  • Manage household orders (Amazon, Costco, etc.).
  • Run errands: dry cleaning, returns, gift shopping, farmers’ market trips.
  • Handle package pickup, mail sorting, and deliveries.
  • Mileage reimbursed for errands.

Meal Preparation

  • Prep foods (wash/chop vegetables and ingredients for meals, batch cook basics like hard boiled eggs, freezer meals).
  • Grocery shop for fresh ingredients and pantry restock.
  • Follow dietary needs: gluten-free meals are essential.
  • Maintain a clean, organized kitchen.
  • One family member is gluten free but it is not a gluten free household.

Laundry & Linen Care

  • Wash, dry, fold, and organize family laundry.
  • Iron and steam clothing; prepare outfits as needed.
  • Rotate and refresh linens and towels.
  • Keep laundry area tidy and stocked.

Pet Care

  • Schedule and coordinate quarterly vet visits for cat.
  • Ensure pet supplies are stocked and organized.

Vendor & Property Oversight

  • Schedule/supervise service providers (cleaners, contractors, landscapers).
  • Research, coordinate, and oversee maintenance and repairs.
  • Manage seasonal resets (e.g., garage organization).

Family Support & Child Assistance

  • Provide occasional backup childcare (e.g., school pick-up, playdates).
  • Support date nights with evening babysitting.
  • Assist with school-related prep (clothing, gear, lunch coordination if needed).

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Tackle deep-cleaning projects (fridge, oven, cupboards, baseboards).
  • Clean humidifiers, washing machines, air purifiers monthly.
  • Manage seasonal organizing (holiday décor, sports gear, storage).

Who We’re Looking For

Our ideal candidate is:

  • Organized, reliable, and detail-oriented
  • Independent but collaborative—able to take initiative while also following directions
  • Communicative—comfortable asking questions and giving updates
  • Patient, calm, and trustworthy
  • Proactive—anticipates needs and keeps the household running smoothly

You’ll be an important support to our family and someone we can count on as a steady, kind presence in our busy household.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
