Job Description:

Title: House Manager & Family Assistant (with Meal Prep support)

Location: Bryn Mawr, PA (19010)

Employment Type: Full-time (30–40 hours/week)

Compensation: $27–$35/hour (top of range for candidates with strong experience and/or culinary/meal management skills)

Proposed Start Date: ASAP

Proposed Schedule:

  • Flexible hours, primarily during the morning with downtime in the afternoon and picking back up late afternoon into evening. [ EXAMPLE SCHEDULE: Monday–Friday, approx. 7 AM–11 AM and 3 PM–7 PM (downtime/off between 11 AM - 3 PM) ]
  • Friday schedule would typically end early after school pick-up
  • 1–2 overnight stays per quarter when parents travel (planned in advance)
  • Ability to adjust based on family needs is valued

Requirements:

  • Maintain a smoke-free environment
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Reliable transportation
  • This position requires a background check
  • Up to date on vaccinations
  • Comfortable with very large dogs (95 lb, well-behaved and energetic)
  • Ideally, someone in close proximity to Bryn Mawr (30 minutes or less)

About the Family:

We are a high-energy, dual-executive family with two 7-year-old twins who are both in school full-time. Each parent works a mix of days from home and from offices located about 30 minutes away. Having recently relocated from outside the country, we are now focused on building a trusted and reliable village to support our family and home in the Main Line area.

We are seeking an experienced, proactive, and highly trustworthy House Manager & Family Assistant who can help keep our household running smoothly while also providing support with childcare. Our friendly and energetic 95-lb dog is very much part of the family, so comfort with pets is essential.

This role is ideal for someone who naturally anticipates needs, takes pride in creating an organized and well-run home, and approaches their work with care, discretion, and professionalism. We hope to find someone who feels like a true extension of our family- bringing calm, structure, and peace of mind while helping to reduce the daily mental load that comes with managing a busy household.

Promptness, reliability, and strong follow-through are especially important in this role, particularly as both parents maintain demanding schedules and much of our extended family lives abroad.

Who You Are:

You are experienced in managing households and caring for children, thoughtful in your approach, and genuinely enjoy supporting others. You are organized, attentive to detail, and confident taking initiative without needing to be micromanaged. Warm, dependable, and respectful of the family’s space and routines, you are also flexible as needs shift.

We are looking for someone who is proactive and reliable, able to anticipate the family’s needs, act independently, and integrate seamlessly into our home. In this role, you will help manage the household while ensuring the children have everything they need, keeping the environment organized and running smoothly, and providing additional support when the family travels or needs occasional evening coverage. You take pride in caring for a home and supporting a family as if it were your own.

Core Responsibilities:

Childcare & Family Support

  • Morning drop-offs and afternoon pick-ups for school (this happens at the local bus stop which is in front of the home)
  • Be a reliable presence in the home for the kids in the morning and again from the afternoon until the early evening hours
  • After school support: snacks, homework help, activity drop-offs
  • Prepare backpacks and clothing for school/activities
  • Provide evening childcare or support during parent travel (approximately 2 nights/quarter)
  • Be a consistent, nurturing presence in their daily routines

Household Management & Organization

  • Maintain household organizational systems (closets, pantry, toys, etc.)
  • Maintain and tidy all home areas (e.g., kitchen counters, sinks, dog hair vacuuming, etc.)
  • Reset daily for smooth mornings and calm evenings
  • Manage seasonal organization and swaps (e.g., clothing, decor, gear)
  • Coordinate donation drop-offs and pickups
  • Oversee household schedules, appointments, and calendars
  • Household errands
  • Prepare for guest stays, travel, and special events
  • Occasionally supervise or communicate with service providers (e.g., cleaners, window washers, etc.)

Inventory Management & Errands

  • Keep pantry, fridge, and household items stocked
  • Manage shopping lists and orders (Amazon, Target, grocery)
  • Run occasional errands: returns, dry cleaning
  • Handle incoming packages, mail sorting, and recycling

Meal Management & Prep

  • Coordinate weekly meal plans with a focus on healthy, protein-rich, veggie-forward, organic meals
  • Prep and cook dinner (~3x/week) for the family and snacks for the kids
  • Pack school lunches and help with lunch ideas for the children
  • Keep the kitchen clean and tidy post-meal preparation

Laundry & Linen Care

  • Full laundry care (clothing, bedding, towels) for the family: wash, dry, fold, organize
  • Steam or prep clothes as needed
  • Rotate bedding and refresh towels
  • Keep laundry areas clean and stocked
  • Manage kids’ clothing as they grow

Pet Care

  • Daily dog walks
  • Occasionally feed and potential transport to doggy daycare if needed
  • Keep pet supplies organized and stocked

Deep Cleaning & Maintenance Projects

  • Handle deep cleaning of fridge, oven, humidifiers, etc.
  • Refresh key areas like mudroom, entryways, and garage
  • Assist with seasonal decor setup/takedown and toy storage

Admin & Personal Assistant Support

  • Help plan travel, events, and birthday parties
  • Support with school schedules and family logistics
  • Track child appointments, calendars, and reminders
  • Help purchase gifts for parties or holidays

What We’re Looking For:

  • Someone thoughtful, reliable, proactive, and highly organized
  • A great communicator who takes initiative and asks questions when needed
  • A person who feels like part of our team, not just someone checking tasks off a list
  • Someone who has managed a home in some capacity before, is patient, loves kids, and is happy around a big, friendly dog

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
