About Our Family

We are a busy, active family of four based in Sandusky, Ohio, with two school-age children and three beloved pets - two dogs and a very senior cat. Both parents work full-time and maintain flexible but demanding schedules. We are deeply health-conscious, following a whole foods, largely gluten-reduced, dye-free approach to eating, and we are intentional about the role that nutrition plays in our family's physical and mental wellbeing.

We are a warm household that tends toward organized chaos in the best way - there is a lot happening at any given time, but we rely on strong systems to keep things moving smoothly. We value someone who feels comfortable working independently and confidently within the flow of a busy home. Organization, comfort with animals, ability to cook and support meal prep, and flexibility across household tasks are especially important to us, as is a proactive, team-oriented mindset.

Our home has a well-established sense of structure and “everything has a place,” even if daily life occasionally pulls things out of that rhythm. We are preparing for an exciting transition: a new home is currently under construction nearby, which adds both opportunity and need for an extra set of hands. We are looking for someone who will grow with us through that chapter and beyond.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is the kind of person who notices things without being asked. You walk into a home and see what needs attention - a load of laundry ready for the dryer, surfaces that need a quick wipe, a package that arrived and needs to be unpacked and put away. You take initiative naturally and find satisfaction in leaving a space better than you found it. You are organized and detail-oriented, comfortable following systems as well as suggesting improvements to them.

You communicate clearly and promptly - a quick text response during the day is important to this family. You are warm and friendly, able to build genuine rapport with children and adults alike. You are comfortable around pets, including lovable, energetic dogs.

You know your way around the kitchen and and can cook meals from scratch with a focus on whole foods. You care about taking others’ preferences for their health and nutrition seriously, especially as it relates to following detailed dietary guidelines with care and consistency. Cooking for others is something you genuinely take pride in and enjoy.

Most importantly, you are someone who is interested in growing with a family over time, not just filling hours.

Key Responsibilities

Meal Support

  • Wash, dry, and properly store fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Batch meal prep: breakfast and lunch options for kids (weekly), individual adult lunches following 2-3 family-provided recipes (weekly), and snacks (e.g., homemade roasted cashews or similar whole-food snacks – occasional)
  • Prepare ingredients for 1-2 family dinners per week (e.g., clean and chop vegetables so the family can finish cooking quickly in the evening). This could increase in the spring due to uptick in kids’ activities
  • Pick up groceries as needed and transition toward shared grocery management over time
  • Stock and organize pantry
  • Follow strict dietary guidelines: whole foods, largely gluten-reduced, dye-free, low added sugar, focused on quality meats, fruits, and vegetables
  • Kitchen clean-up and maintenance during shifts

  • Stain treating, particularly during sports season
  • Occasional steaming of garments

Household Organization & Maintenance

  • Reset and tidy the home each shift: clear surfaces, handle dishes, sweep and/or vacuum high-traffic areas, remove trash, and prepare for weekly cleaners
  • Maintain and improve household organization systems throughout the home
  • Care for indoor plants
  • Event and gathering prep for family barbecues and celebrations (approximately 6 times per year)

Inventory & Errands

  • Manage running household supply lists via shared app

  • Monitor pantry and refrigerator for expired or missing items; place replacement orders or make store runs as needed
  • Break down and dispose of boxes
  • Sort and manage incoming mail
  • Handle Amazon returns and miscellaneous errands as requested
  • Transition over time toward managing household subscriptions (food delivery, pet supplies, paper goods, pantry staples)

Family Support

  • Light afternoon support for children after school - emptying bags, cleaning lunch boxes, getting items organized
  • Help prep backpacks, clothing, and snacks when present
  • Assist with morning routine on applicable shift days
  • Occasional date night childcare coverage, approximately once per month, as requested (pending candidate availability – not required but flexibility / interest in this is preferred)

Pet Care

  • Comfortable around two energetic dogs and a senior cat
  • Cat litter box maintenance every few days
  • Feed pets as needed when family has evening activities or is away
  • Walk dogs as needed (both leash-trained; not a daily requirement)
  • Transport dogs to groomer occasionally
  • Administer twice-daily thyroid medication to the cat as requested
  • Maintain pet food and supply inventory
  • Opportunity to provide pet sitting support when family travels

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Coordinate/delegate occasional deep cleaning tasks (refrigerator, oven, baseboards) with/to regular cleaners
  • Organize and maintain garage landing zone
  • Organizational projects related to kids' toys, gear, and clothing (especially in preparation for upcoming home move)

Vendor & Property Oversight

Administrative Support

  • Collaborate with family in setting up to-do lists, charts, recipes, etc. in shared app
  • Serve as a second set of eyes on the family's children's calendar - keeping track of special school days, activity schedules, and upcoming events
  • Track and submit receipts for employee-related expenses
  • Occasional logistical support for travel planning (e.g., one-off calls to airlines or service providers) - not full itinerary planning
  • List and manage sale of children's clothing and household items on Facebook Marketplace and/or coordinate items for donation

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
