Job Description
Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is seeking to hire a Project Scheduler for Operations. The Project Scheduler develops, maintains, analyzes, and reports integrated project schedules in support of capital, operations, and project-management activities. The position is responsible for establishing logical, resource-informed, and statused schedules that support effective planning, execution, performance measurement, forecasting, and timely project completion.
The Project Scheduler serves as a key project-controls team member and works closely with project managers, control account managers, engineers, construction personnel, operations, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure schedule information is accurate, current, traceable, and aligned with approved project scope, cost, and performance baselines.
Responsibilities
Integrated Schedule Development and Maintenance
- Develop, maintain, and status detailed, resource-informed integrated project schedules using Primavera P6 or comparable scheduling software.
- Develop schedules that reflect approved project scope, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), control accounts, work packages, planning packages, milestones, interfaces, and contractual deliverables.
- Establish logical activity relationships, durations, calendars, constraints, coding structures, milestones, and schedule narratives in accordance with project-control standards.
- Ensure schedules incorporate the full project life cycle, as applicable, including planning, design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, readiness, turnover, and closeout.
- Coordinate with project personnel to define work activities, sequencing, dependencies, resource requirements, and completion criteria.
- Maintain schedule data integrity and configuration control, including appropriate documentation of schedule assumptions, constraints, revisions, and approved changes.
Schedule Performance, Analysis, and Forecasting
- Collect, validate, and incorporate progress updates from responsible project team members in accordance with established status cycles and reporting requirements.
- Analyze schedule performance against the approved baseline, including critical path, near-critical path, milestone performance, float consumption, schedule logic, constraints, and forecast completion dates.
- Identify potential delays, adverse trends, schedule risks, interface issues, and resource conflicts that could affect project execution or key milestones.
- Develop schedule-impact analyses and support development of mitigation, recovery, acceleration, or corrective-action plans.
- Perform schedule health checks and quality reviews to verify compliance with established scheduling standards, including logic integrity, activity duration, constraints, leads/lags, and critical-path validity.
- Support periodic schedule updates, schedule forecasts, what-if analyses, and time-impact assessments for project-management decision-making.
Earned Value Management and Performance Reporting
- Support implementation of the project’s tailored Earned Value Management System (EVMS) approach and applicable customer-reporting requirements.
- Coordinate schedule status with cost, budgeting, and performance-measurement data to support accurate earned value, forecast, and variance-analysis reporting.
- Assist project managers and control account managers with schedule-related variance analysis, estimates to complete, corrective-action plans, and recovery plans.
- Prepare and distribute recurring schedule reports, milestone reports, critical-path analyses, look-ahead schedules, progress dashboards, Gantt charts, and schedule narratives.
- Provide accurate, timely, and defensible schedule information for internal management reviews, customer briefings, project reviews, and monthly performance reports.
- Communicate schedule status, key drivers, risks, and recommended actions clearly to project teams, leadership, and stakeholders.
Risk, Safety, and Quality
- Identify and communicate schedule-related risks, opportunities, assumptions, and constraints; support development of mitigation and contingency actions.
- Ensure schedule activities reflect applicable safety, quality, environmental, regulatory, work-control, and readiness requirements.
- Support incorporation of risk-management, constructability, procurement, quality-assurance, configuration-management, and operational-readiness activities into project schedules.
- Promote accuracy, transparency, and disciplined project-controls practices in all scheduling activities.
