Job Description

Are you an experienced governance professional who can provide trusted advice, strengthen accountability and help governance work effectively across a growing specialist Trust? We are seeking a Governance Manager to lead high-quality governance support across the Special Partnership Trust.

About us: The Special Partnership Trust is an ambitious and inspirational partnership of specialist schools committed to improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND. Our central team works collaboratively with Members, Trustees, Local Governing Bodies and school leaders to ensure strong, effective and compliant governance throughout the Trust. The Role: Reporting to the CEO and Trustees, you will lead governance support across the Trust under the direction of the Chair of Trustees and Executive Director. You will provide expert guidance on governance regulations, Trust policies and best practice, undertake company secretarial responsibilities, and manage the Governance Administrator. You will build effective relationships with Members, Trustees, Local Governing Bodies, Headteachers and colleagues across our schools. Key Responsibilities: • Lead and coordinate effective governance support for the Trust Board, its committees and Local Governing Bodies. • Act as a trusted source of advice on statutory, regulatory, constitutional and procedural governance matters. • Plan and manage governance cycles, meetings, agendas, papers, minutes and follow-up actions to a consistently high standard. • Maintain accurate governance records, statutory registers, policies and submissions, ensuring deadlines and compliance requirements are met. • Support the recruitment, induction, training and development of Members, Trustees and local governors. • Undertake company secretarial duties and support the Trust’s compliance with relevant legislation and governance frameworks. • Manage and develop the Governance Administrator, promoting efficient systems and excellent service across the Trust. • Build strong working relationships with senior leaders and governance stakeholders while handling sensitive information with discretion. About you: You will bring substantial governance experience, excellent knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, and the confidence to advise senior stakeholders. Highly organised and accurate, you will communicate clearly, exercise sound judgement and be comfortable balancing strategic priorities with detailed administration. Experience of governance within education or a multi-academy trust would be advantageous.

Our Total Reward Offer: The Special Partnership Trust recognises the importance of developing a properly implemented People Strategy to underpin the overall strategic aims of the Trust. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
