Software Development & Engineering

Job Description:

The Principal Software Engineer is the senior technical leader and supply chain domain expert on the US Supply Chain Fusion Team, acting as a critical technical bridge between supply chain business operations and core IT solutions. This role powers the IT solutions behind demand planning, procurement, inventory management, warehousing, distribution, and manufacturing logistics.

The Principal Software Engineer spends roughly half of their time on technical strategy, architecture, governance, and Agile leadership, and half on highly complex technical execution across production support and projects. As AI capabilities mature, the role is increasingly hybrid, combining engineering, business analysis, and deep domain expertise. The position works within an Agile Fusion Team alongside the Digital Product Manager, Digital Product Owner, and IT Global Delivery Leader.

Hybrid: This role offers a flexible hybrid work schedule (Monday-Friday) located at our Home Office in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The hybrid work schedule is 3 days/week onsite at Home Office and 2 days/week from home.

Relocation Benefits: Receive a $10,000 relocation bonus PLUS a generous relocation package if relocating more than 50 miles for this position.

About our Green Bay, WI Home Office:

You’ll find lots to love in our beautiful home office in downtown Green Bay, Wisconsin. Our jeans-friendly environment has indoor and outdoor collaboration spaces, state-of-the-art R&D and sensory labs, culinary kitchens, a pilot plant, innovation center and more.

Take advantage of outdoor workspaces. Sample and provide feedback on new products from our R&D team. Enjoy free coffee, soda and popcorn. Take a short walk to restaurants, breweries, the YMCA and a weekly farmer’s market on the scenic Fox River. You can even see Lambeau Field from our top floor.

What You'll Do

Supply Chain Solutions & Domain Leadership

  • Supply Chain Domain Expertise: Serve as the go-to expert on supply chain business processes and documentation across demand planning, procurement, inventory management, warehousing, distribution, and manufacturing logistics; translate business needs into technical solutions and explain technical impacts in business terms.
  • End-to-End Visibility: Design systems that increase operational visibility across inventory tracking, raw material procurement, cold-chain logistics, and order fulfillment.
  • Data & Analytics Integration: Collaborate with data science and engineering teams to integrate operational data into advanced analytics and AI/ML workflows (e.g., predictive maintenance, demand forecasting, routing optimization).
  • Vendor & System Integration: Interface with external software vendors and internal enterprise systems to address product defects, implement platform upgrades, and manage custom API/interface developments.

Technical Strategy & Architecture

  • Strategic Influence: Initiate, lead, recommend, and implement technical strategies for supply chain systems; work with architects to implement technical architecture roadmaps and standardize and modernize solutions (Cloud, AI, automation); present complex technical information to non-technical business partners and senior leadership; and create key decision documents.
  • Architectural Alignment: Participate in Centers of Excellence (COEs) and submit new architecture needs to the Architecture Review Board (ARB).
  • Enterprise Governance & Audits: Establish, document, and govern software engineering standards, guidelines, and patterns; measure, monitor, and execute audits to ensure compliance, including IT general controls, audit trails, data privacy, and food safety requirements where applicable.

Delivery & Operational Excellence

  • Agile Accountability: Own effort estimates and well-defined tasks for user stories; serve as the point of accountability for team-wide testing quality and release deployment success; and establish CI/CD standards and release governance. Supports both Agile projects and Waterfall (EPM) enterprise initiatives.
  • Production Support Strategy: Govern Tier 3 support (including 24x7 on-call) for supply chain applications; prevent issues through root cause analysis, proactive monitoring, observability, and application health checks; and own the application lifecycle roadmap (patching, upgrades, decommissioning, archiving, purging) and disaster recovery readiness.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Talent Development: Mentor engineers at all levels, lead design and code reviews, develop technical training for Global IT partners, research and educate on emerging technologies, and direct external contractor and consultant deliverables.
  • Organizational Influence: Influence IT and business leadership on technical direction and drive adoption of engineering standards across teams without direct authority.

What you need to succeed:

  • 8+ years of software development experience, including technical leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Proven domain experience supporting or developing supply chain systems (e.g., WMS, TMS, ERP, Demand Planning, Logistics, or Inventory Management), with strong knowledge of supply chain business processes and documentation.
  • Demonstrated supply chain functional expertise, with working knowledge of end-to-end processes across Plan, Source, Make, Deliver, and Return (e.g., demand and supply planning, S&OP, procurement and supplier management, inventory control, warehouse operations, transportation and distribution, order-to-cash, and manufacturing logistics), including the business documentation, KPIs, and controls that support them.
  • Ability to analyze and document supply chain business processes (e.g., current/future-state process maps, requirements, and functional designs), identify improvement and automation opportunities, and partner credibly with supply chain leaders and operations teams.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in enterprise software development (e.g., SQL, Python, or modern JavaScript frameworks).
  • Strong database design and optimization skills, including data modeling and relational/non-relational data structures.
  • Experience with system integration protocols (REST/SOAP APIs, event-driven architecture, messaging queues).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with enterprise data platforms and analytical toolsets (e.g., Palantir Foundry, Databricks, Azure/AWS/GCP cloud services).
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) and automated testing.
  • Experience in food manufacturing or cold-chain environments.

Core Expectations

  • Growth mindset and change agility.
  • Customer and partner focus, including emotional intelligence and addressing conflict respectfully.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% (within and outside the US).
  • Participation in the 24x7 Tier 3 on-call rotation.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
