Job Summary

We are seeking a Platform Engineer who combines product ownership with hands-on engineering to lead the development and management of our enterprise-facing platform. The role involves understanding customer needs, translating them into actionable roadmaps, and delivering scalable, reliable systems from design to production. The engineer will be responsible for the API platform, model gateway, evaluation infrastructure, and core backend systems, ensuring an optimal developer experience and system reliability to support enterprise AI workloads.

Responsibilities

  • Own platform priorities in collaboration with the founders by transforming customer problems into a strategic roadmap, defining success metrics, and delivering end-to-end improvements.
  • Build and scale the API platform and model gateway, including features such as routing, authentication, usage tracking, and billing.
  • Develop evaluation and benchmarking infrastructure that captures production feedback, enabling the AI/ML team to measure and enhance model performance.
  • Create APIs, documentation, and developer-facing interfaces to facilitate seamless enterprise integration.
  • Manage backend architecture across services, databases, and cloud infrastructure, balancing throughput, latency, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Coordinate with GPU/inference teams to ensure system uptime, capacity planning, and failure handling for enterprise workloads.
  • Implement observability, logging, monitoring, and debugging systems with clear alerting and incident response protocols.
  • Collaborate with AI/ML teams to integrate and evaluate open-weight models and ensure reliable model serving.
  • Oversee releases and production deployment, including testing, safe deployment, issue diagnosis, and incorporating customer feedback for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • 3 - 7 years of experience in backend, platform, or full-stack engineering.
  • Proven experience in building and owning production-grade backend systems and APIs.
  • Experience shipping products at product-led startups or high-scale technology companies.
  • Strong proficiency in backend programming languages such as Python, Go, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js).
  • Solid understanding of databases, distributed systems, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience managing reliability, latency, observability, and handling production incidents.
  • Comfortable working across the stack with a strong backend foundation.
  • Demonstrated product ownership skills: understanding customer problems, making trade-offs, prioritizing work, and measuring impact.
  • Experience with AI/ML infrastructure, LLM APIs, model serving, evaluation systems, or developer platforms is a strong plus but not mandatory.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience building backend or platform products at companies such as Razorpay, Uber, Salesforce, or similar organizations.
  • Ability to make architectural trade-offs and operate infrastructure dependencies critical to engineering teams and customers.
  • Hands-on experience in AI infrastructure, model deployment, and evaluation systems.

Experience

  • 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in backend or platform engineering.
  • Proven track record of taking products from customer problem to production, making architectural decisions, and operating critical infrastructure.
