Sales & Trading Manager – Petrochemicals & Solvents

## Company Overview Akin Chemicals is a prominent chemical trading and distribution firm specializing in sourcing and supplying bulk petrochemicals, solvents, and chemical intermediates. The company serves major manufacturing sectors including pharmaceuticals, coatings, and plastics.

## Job Summary The Sales & Trading Manager will lead the bulk chemical portfolio, driving high-volume sales and managing international trade operations. This role requires a combination of strong B2B industrial sales expertise and deep technical knowledge of trade finance, import logistics, and market dynamics to maximize trading margins in a fast-moving, high-volume environment.

## Responsibilities - Drive high-volume sales of bulk solvents and petrochemicals (tankers and ISO tanks) to industrial end-users and domestic distributors. - Manage chemical import operations including container and vessel tracking, customs clearance coordination, and complex trade structures such as switching Bills of Lading for cross-border or high-seas sales. - Structure trade finance transactions using Letters of Credit (LCs), Bank Guarantees, and bank lines while monitoring foreign exchange rates and currency exposure to protect deal margins. - Track global feedstock trends, import parity pricing, and domestic supply-demand gaps to identify profitable trading opportunities. - Oversee the complete commercial lifecycle including quote generation, contract negotiation, credit limit evaluation, and timely payment collections.

## Qualifications - Minimum 5 years of experience in bulk chemical trading, petrochemical sales, or international chemical sourcing. - Strong expertise in trade finance instruments such as LCs, Documents against Payment/Acceptance (DP/DA) terms, and bank lines. - In-depth knowledge of import logistics including shipping terms, Bill of Lading manipulation, and high-seas sales. - Proven ability to mitigate foreign exchange risk in volatile commodity markets. - Established network with procurement heads in pharmaceutical, paint, ink, or polymer industries. - Educational background in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or International Business; an MBA is advantageous. - Excellent negotiation skills, sharp financial acumen, and agility to respond quickly in a volatile pricing environment.

## Preferred Skills - Aggressive negotiation style tailored to high-stakes trading environments. - Strong analytical skills for market intelligence and arbitrage opportunities. - Ability to manage complex international trade transactions and compliance.

## Experience - At least 5 years of relevant experience in bulk chemical trading or related petrochemical sales. - Demonstrated experience in international trade execution and trade finance management.

## Environment - Based in Mumbai. - The role involves managing fast-paced, high-volume trading operations with significant interaction across international logistics and finance teams.
