Deine Aufgaben

Please note: This job posting is in English, as English is the working language at our Basecamp in Licata. Good English skills are required for the position.

The base camp in Licata, Sicily, is the heart of our search and rescue operations. It serves as the central logistics hub in Licata for the SEA-EYE 5 and plays a key role in preparing rotations, coordinating supplies, and supporting the crew between rotations. At the Basecamp, crews prepare for their operations, relax after their time at sea, and remain integrated into all operational structures. Since its establishment in October 2024, it has grown into a well-organized and lively place that supports both the operational needs of the ship and the well-being of the crew.

For 2027, we are looking for Volunteer Cooks and Volunteer Joker to join our Basecamp team.

Are you interested in teamwork, practical tasks, and humanitarian operations? Then we would love to hear from you!

Please note when applying: Indicate in your application • which position you are applying for and • which period you would like to volunteer for.

We are looking for volunteers for the following periods: • 04.01. – 04.02.2027 – Shipyard • 03.02. – 05.03.2027 – Shipyard • 04.03. – 15.04.2027 • 13.04. – 27.05.2027 • 25.05. – 06.07.2027 • 15.07. – 26.08.2027 • 24.08. – 05.10.2027 • 14.10. – 25.11.2027 • 23.11. – 26.12.2027

Please note that it may take us some time to get back to you, as we are planning the Basecamp schedule for 2027 well in advance and expect to receive a number of applications. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Dein Profil

Volunteer Cook

As a Volunteer Cook, you are responsible for preparing nutritious and varied vegetarian and vegan meals for crew members and guests. You plan the menus yourself, taking into account the schedule and operational needs shared by the Basecamp Manager. The kitchen is your space to get creative, while you also help keep it running smoothly. This includes managing food storage, keeping the kitchen clean and organized, and preparing grocery lists. You will also have the opportunity to join trainings and sea trials and get an insight into the work of the crew.

Are you enjoying to cook for a community? Do you have experience cooking for larger groups and feel confident preparing vegetarian and vegan meals?

Volunteer Joker As a Joker / Operation Support Volunteer, you support the Basecamp Manager and the wider team with a variety of day-to-day operational, logistical, and practical tasks. This includes provisioning the ship with food, materials, and equipment, as well as carrying out small repairs, maintenance, and other hands-on tasks at the Basecamp and on board. You may also support training sessions, sea trials, crew rotations, and SAR standby activities when needed. As a Joker, you help ensure that things run smoothly – both in the Basecamp and on board the ship – and that the team can focus on its operational work.

Are you hands-on, reliable, and flexible? Do you enjoy working as part of a team, adapting to different tasks, and finding practical solutions? Experience in repairs, maintenance, carpentry, or similar hands-on work is a plus.

Warum wir?

Sea rescue doesn’t just begin at sea. Our work depends on the collaboration of many people: full-time teams establish structures, coordinate operations and ensure stability. Volunteers contribute their time, energy and dedication. It is only by working together that we make sea rescue possible. Become part of Sea-Eye, whether as a volunteer or a full-time member, and support our work from shore.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
