The posting

Job Description

Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS–related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.

The Intern, Intellectual Property & Contract Compliance will support the development, implementation, and enhancement of tools and processes that help protect and manage Seaspan’s intellectual property across multiple shipbuilding programs. This role requires strong technical capabilities - particularly in software development, Power Apps, and data management - to support the evolution of Seaspan’s internal IP tracking tools and contribute to broader IP compliance efforts.

Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 2 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.

  • Troubleshoot tool issues, support users, and respond to ad hoc IP support requests.
  • Help document technical changes, process workflows, and system enhancements related to IPMT.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (engineering, legal, compliance, security) to ensure IP data and processes are accurate and up to date.

What you’ll bring

  • Enrollment in the 3rd or 4th year of a relevant program such as Business, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Pre-Law.
  • Must be able to secure a Canadian Government (CISD) Personal Security Clearance
  • Ability to communicate optimally and efficiently, both in writing and in person.
  • Experience with Power Apps, Power Automate, or similar low-code development platforms.
  • Excellent digital literacy including Excel/Word/PowerPoint.

  • Proven initiative, creativity, and integrity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
